I write this in the withdrawal support part of BB's because I know this is a section where people go to for support.

Almost two years ago I finished my taper with Xanax and jumped. The year long struggle with extremely challenging symptoms which included insomnia, severe morning anxiety, increased general anxiety, headaches, numbness to my hands & limbs and other symptoms was the hardest thing I ever had to go through in my life.

One of the biggest & most saddening part of my life I had to give up due to my taper was coaching basketball at a junior high school that I had been coaching at for 9 seasons. Very hard. About half a year after jumping I decided to get back to coaching in a recreation league and my team ended up in second place.

A couple of weeks ago my season ended with the second team I had coached since my taper and we ended up undefeated champions. That is very hard to do in this competitive league with good parity within the teams.

When I was going through my taper part of me thought I may never heal, but I think largely to do with this site part of me knew I would because of all the people who had written they had healed.

So I wanted to pop in to offer the same hope. I am back to 100% healed and my reputation as a youth basketball coach is very high within my community. Please know that someday you will be healed too!

Hundreds, if not thousands of people withdrew & healed before me and will after me. The same is true with you as 100% healed in the future too!

My taper was different than most in that I suffered the most at the start of my taper and started to greatly improve as I got closer to 0 mg.

When I jumped I was around 90% healed and within a month and a half about 100% physically, although I was not ready to start doing really demanding things such as coaching until about 4-5 months afterwards.

No matter how long it takes, it is worth the fight for sure.

Thanks for this update!

Your welcome!

I mentioned that my taper was different than most in that I suffered greatly at the start and then improved greatly as I tapered down to 0.

I want to add that many people's tapers end smoothly. Ashton wrote that over 90% of her patients, even long term & high dose users, were healed within 3 months of them ending their tapers with a slow, safe taper.

So there is real reason to be optimistic!

it seems to have been a tough couple of weeks on these boards, so great timing, and answer to a question that is forever nipping at my mind...

Best wishes as you climb to new heights..

Thank you!

I think sometime soon I would like to try to mediate on were I was at the worst of my taper and how far I have come especially with my recent accomplishments. Pretty amazing.

I know everyone is capable of healing and going on to the heights. Thanks for the kind words.

Saul- thanks for coming back once again with words of hope. When I found Benzo Buddies last May I was really in a bad place- didn't know if I could make it-  and you specifically were one of the first people to give me hope to continue on. You are a very kind and caring person and your advice  and support made all  the difference to me. Now at 8 1/2 months free of xanax I can say I have made it to the other side and I wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart!  I am still not yet where I want to be symptom wise but I am still so grateful to be free of xanax!!  You have inspired me to want to be like you and come back here to help others struggling to get off xanax.

Wow, thank you ontheroadme.

I think your reply will also help a lot of people know that yes of course we do heal and recover. There are many of us and I think it is good when we come back to give hope to others. I am happy to hear you are 8 1/2 months free of Xanax and on your way to recovery!

Thank you for your kind, caring and thoughtful words. It reminds me a a really nice card one of my players gave me at the end of the season.

Thanks so much.
