Migraines this far out?

Recommended Posts

I had a few migraines at the beginning of my taper and then they just stopped.  Now 4+ months out -  suddenly five out of six days of intense and incapacitating migraines which only responds to Imitrex.  This drug is the only way I am able to type on here but this drug has drawbacks.

I shouldn't take Imitrex more than 10 days out of the month so I am scared now since migraines are my most incapacitating sxs among my panoply of sxs so far.  I've scoured the archives and I see that this can happen.  If this is common, I'll put off seeing more docs.  But I guess a neurologist is now on the list.  WBB

WBB:

Any changes can bring on migraines. If your sleep has changed, hormones, diet, the weather.  When I get migraines, they last approximately 3 full days.  It is awful. I traveled in January and felt like I was getting a migraine every day for about 10 days and I took an abortive pretty much every time.  I also bought Exedrine migraine and used that, which actually seems to help if the headache hasn't taken hold. I don't get an aura.

Look at your diet for migraine triggers.  http://www.fammed.wisc.edu/files/webfm-uploads/documents/outreach/im/handout_ha_elim_diet_patient.pdf

Migraines are truly awful.  I have unrelenting depression, and when a migraine is layered on top of it I just want to end it all.  Hope you do get better very, very soon!

Thanks, Sunday

I know the misery of being sick with depression and with any painful sx like migraine.  I feel so run down and sick, I worry my heart will just give out and think, oh well at least I'd be done.  The Imitrex makes fatigue and stomach worse, too.

I am already halfway there with the migraine trigger diet and didn't even know I was eating that way.  So thanks for that.  WBB

I've been doing more research on the IV gamma globulin infusions I receive monthly for an autoimmune condition I have and it looks like delayed headache is one of the symptoms.  I read on my other forum about someone having one start three days out an lasting for many days.  Yikes.  I had an infusion last Tues. so this must be the reason.  It is very disappointing because I have had many infusions with maybe one headache from it a year ago.  Now what.

Lately, I am wishing that I had just changed benzos or something.  SOme magical way of getting back to not being sick and in pain.  WBB

About 4 or 5 months after quitting I started having visual auras, which are related to migraines.  I had never had them before.  My visual field would get these wavy circular patterns that would grow and grow.  Very distracting.  This lasted for probably two or three months, then gradually decreased to the point where I no longer have them.

I think this is caused by your withdrawal and will eventually pass.

I am almost 14 months off and I get these migraines for long waves. So painful. And they affect my ability to function. I hope you feel better soon. Your not alone.
