Advice for panic disorder

[Re...]

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am wondering if anyone has developed panic disorder after withdrawl. I was not having this until about 1.5 months ago insomnia set in and now extreme panic disorder. 10-20 full blown panic attacks through the day and night while trying to sleep. The dr wants me to try a medication. He said he will prescribe whatever I want yo try but I am scared to try and get even worse. My body cannot handle all the adrenaline coming with these attacks. Any advice or meds that have helped you.

Thanks

If you're feeling air hunger and your heart suddenly racing at 130bpm, keep in mind you can be hyperventilating. Do a deep breathing exercise in which you breathe with your abdomen 4 seconds in, 4 second hold, 4 seconds out. Do the valhala manuever. Dunk your head in cold water. Hopefully this can help you know you're not having a heart attack or something.

I've found that I have two types of panic attacks.

The first one starts with thoughts, fears, physical feelings, and a heightened anxiety state, and it slowly builds up and up until it reaches an unbearable level. This is the type that FizzleWitch'es link would be good for.

The second type is that suddenly out of the blue I feel that I am having a heart attack, I cannot breathe, and my heart is beating at 130bpm. 60 to 130bpm in 2 seconds. I think this one is hyperventilation.
