So i wanted to take xanax last night because of total insomnia for 5 days.I felt that i just cannot anymore and i felt something is od with me.I did not know what to do so I ask you here should I or should I not take xanax.

Just before 7 clock pm i still did not take xanax I started to feel very strange.Like that i am losing my mind.i got irritated with everything. Then I started to see beings walking around me, my partners face lost the shape...It never happend to me.I stared to panic did not want to open the eyes because I just seen stuffs that are not there. My partner than called er and I got on psychiatry and they gave me some antidepresent, lot of it.I calmed down but today i feel very agitated and on edge...I stayed there over night. The diagnose is psychotic paranoid disturbnes because of insomnia. They said there I need to take something against insomnia it just do not work different I will lend on psychiatry with psychoses...

I have no clue what to do now.I do not want to take medicals anymore but I must. They said some people just cannot go so long without sleep...

I am scared and think that all this 6 and half monthes of wd was for nothing...That I will become psychotic. What to do?

What to do?

First, I'd throw the Xanax away (responsibly).  The temptation to take a pill is adding to your anxiety (which doesn't help your sleep).

Second, (and I've said this before) please just relax about your insomnia.  Sleep will return in time if you let it.  Anguishing over it just makes it worse.  Trips to the ER only make it worse.

I never hallucinated or had psychotic attack.I needed to go to ER and i think this was good.Sleep will maybe return but what to do till then?Doctor at ambulance said I should never allow myself anymore to not sleep at all for days and I am scared it will happend. He said I can become really psychotic and that is not fun. if I will not take something it could go bad for me. nothing else works just drugs.

The point I was trying to get across in your previous post about wanting to take Xanax to aid your sleep is, ok so you take one tonight and it helps you sleep, what about tomorrow night and the night after that. If you start taking Xanax every night to sleep then you will do more brain damage and just get yourself starting over and it is worse the second time. These doctors at  ER don't sound like a geniuses saying that you should never go without sleeping but they gave you nothing to help you sleep. Xanax is not the only substance in the world that helps you sleep. What about trazadone and Seroquil. If those were smart doctors they could have prescribed one of those to you. I mentioned in the other post what about a little wine or some beer. Not much obviously but one or two to relax you. Anything other than Xanax.

I'm so sorry that happened Masha. I understand how scary things can get. I've run to the ER a few times myself. This morning things seem to be improving a bit more and yesterday was okay as well. I have been taking some supplements that seems to help a little. I know that many bb members speak against supplements but they have helped me improve. Maybe you should try some instead of going back to Xanax. Trust me I've thought about going back too, but everyday is getting better, and the supplements are helping to get me through the day. Every time I think about going back to Xanax I think about how I will have to start over and I just don't want to do that. So try the supplements, they might just help you.

What kind of antidepressant? It's really odd for them to do that, as it's not a medicine that works immediately; it takes 2-3 weeks for an antidepressant to become effective and during that time it actually can make you more restless.

If it's your goal to sleep without taking drugs, then I wouldn't take this new drug.  Whatever it is, you'll have to withdraw from it.

No, They can't give you one pill and call it another.

Again, it's the fear that's doing this to you.  Not the insomnia.  It doesn't matter to me personally whether you decide to take pills to sleep or not.  That's why I asked if you wanted to get off meds for sleep.  If you're convinced that sleep will only come from pills, then so be it.  I used to feel that way, but learned to think differently.  My first step was to learn to control my intrusive thoughts.  Everything else flowed from that.
