light sensitivity

hey yall

i was wondering if any of yall have dealt with light sensitivity after getting off benzos. all of my horrific withdrawals ended around late december however one of my lingering symptoms is extreme light sensitivity. I can barely see to drive at night and when I do it is soo uncomfortable, i have to turn the brightness down on every screen and even on it's lowest setting it is too bright for me. i am always squinting and after a while of this i get a headache. i recently started a job where i am outdoors at night and supposed to be using a tablet, the contrast between the bright screen and the darkness of the outdoors is too much for me but I don't want to let this get in the way of doing my job. overhead lighting is now unbearable but a baseball cap helps with this. when i'm at home, i use dim soft lighting and candle light and natural window light in the day, but this is not realistic lighting for the rest of the world! i will be going to an eye doctor hopefully tomorrow, and i am feeling really really good and positive otherwise. i beat the monster that is withdrawal now i just want to be able to see without discomfort! would love to hear about your experiences.

Yes, I went through a period where I had this, as well as many other visual symptoms.  I'd wear sunglasses indoors at times.  I couldn't look at bright colors or busy visual patterns without feeling sick.  But, as with all other symptoms this was temporary and went away in time.

I thought this symptom was pretty much on its way out but then, late last week, BOOM. I believe light sensitivity is linked to anxiety and/or insomnia. In my case, I've been pushing myself hard at work lately and I think the stress has finally gotten to me. I just need to slow down a bit. It happens. But out of all the symptoms I once suffered while going through withdrawal from benzos, this is the most benign to me.

I have identical issues for the longest time now. All "fake" lighting hurts. When I am outside in natural light I feel WAY better. Car taillights at night do the same.

It's so frustrating.

We have some members who wear sunglasses, especially when around commercial lighting in stores.  Sensory problems like light sensitivity are not uncommon.

Do you know if there is a specific type people use?

I suffer from it and it has limited me to not driving in the night and not being out for too long. I hate the light issues. At almost 14 months off I am sick of it. I bought some screen thing for my computer and cell phone to try to help with the light and it helps a little. Its for blue light I think? Maybe it will help?
