Tapering of Lorazepam

Question on tapering Lorazepam/Ativan: I take 1 mg Lorazepam at bedtime and have for over 7 years. I am planning a taper. I've read some of the tapering schedules. Is it possible to cut the 1 mg in half. Crush .50 add to 125 ml of water. Start to reduce by 1 ml according to schedule. I would take the other .50 in pill form. Is this correct?

Lorazepam/Ativan is NOT water soluble.  You must first dissolve it in a tiny amount of solvent (alcohol (vodka) or propylene glycol), then you can dilute with an appropriate amount of water.

Then you can proceed with a combo of tablets + liquid, or all liquid.

Also, in the US, there is an Rx liquid lorazepam available.

I'm tapering off 2 mgs of Ativan(taken everyday). If your doctor won't give you valium to taper off(which is the best way), then do what i have been doing: Cut down by .25 every 2 weeks or however long it takes for your body to adjust to the dose drop!

I am tapering off Ativan too. Painfully slow. This might be a good post for those that are on the liquid titration board. Right now I am pill cutting. If you are in the US, like me, there is a liquid for available. I haven't asked for it yet, but am considering it as I get closer to being halfway (1 MG is halfway for me!)
