Just knowing I was dropped 2.5 mg I feel suicidal is this normal

The fact that my doc cut me 2.5 mg because extended release Xanax "is a whole different ball game" than 3 mg xanax I feel I want to die. Just looking at my bottle and the .5 makes me feel unstable.

Will an er stabilize me and help me find a new doctor or will they throw Me in 5 day detox. This drastic cut is all that is on my mind. My "friends" are like you are overreacting I have dome you can buy off me. Some friends huh? I refuse to go there I'm hunkered down on my .5 what are my rights?

First - please please please if you are feeling like you might really self harm, DEFINITELY go to the hospital. Its definitely the cut that can bring feelings like that up.

I've been on Xanax daily  for a year now, but I have never taken the xr. I do know that when I tried CT off of .25 I felt like I was gonna die. It was awful! I had no idea that benzos were like that, and even at such a low dose! I'm trying to taper off slower now and I still can't shake the intense depression. I made a 4% cut this week and even that was too much for me. Your doctor cut your dose by like 16-17% which is a lot all at once. If you don't feel like your doctors plan is working for you, definitely find a new doctor. I'm currently in the process of finding one to work with me on my taper since my current dr has no desire to help me at all. If you feel you  need to go to the hospital, definitely go.

Distract is your best thing right now...

U will get through this, and others will be online later (its quiet time now)..

I guess your rights depend on where you are to a small extent... But u will be entitled to ethical, professional, humane, informed, consentual and up to date treatment, i would imagine...

Distract, do the things u like (warm bath, spa), eat something u like (chocolate, ice cream) listen to or watch what u like... etc  -google stuff to help and see where it takes you...? If u have to go to the ER, being informed will help...

Hang in there...

One tiny step at a time... ever forwards...

I hope you will be able to talk to your doctor on Monday.  If not try to find a new one.  I dont think we have any rights to an Rx in the US.  Good luck!

I remember reading the protocols for california... -they were much the same as here in Australia...

But getting your prescribing Dr to learn them could be a whole different story... sadly..

In Connecticut once you get rid of your doctor he is required to give you enough pills until you find another one..........

He is cutting you from 3mgs to .5mg?  I've been on both XR and regular release and have no idea what he is talking about with "a whole different ball game".  Is he a pdoc?  Were you on 3mg XR? And now .5mg regular?  Have you cut yet?
