I have been battling with depression and Benzos (see signature) for five years now and I've got to a point where I just can't stand it any more. Any advice? Thanks. Gx

Gilly

I will tell you this as  someone who has been there. I spent 4 months locked in a room, crying, suicidal, hopeless, and thinking this is how my life ended. Days upon days with no sleep, praying that God would take me out of my misery. I will tell you that as I am getting lower in my taper, life is becoming great again!!!I would have never believed it!! People told me that this would pass and I did not believe them. I will tell you from the bottom of my heart,  many of us know what you're going through completely sympathize. I will tell you what was told to me. Please please please be strong and know that this is not forever. You will get through this will begin to live life the way you always wanted and expected it to be. I promise you! Please feel free to send me a message anytime you need to talk and need support. Please stay strong. You cannot let the benzo win. YOU CAN NOT! YOU GOT THIS!

I will leave you with this, a quote that my wife texted me when I was at my worst.

" I am thankful for what I am going through, because it is through this that I now realize how strong I am"

Love and hugs. Billybatts

Thank you so much, Billy. I feel like it again today. My bf has had enough and says I've got to leave him alone. Mental Health Services are useless and I've used the ambulance three times but they just send me home again. The Samaritans are useless. I've just had enough. I have given my bf my tablets. Gilly x

Hang in there, Gilly.  I'm in the same boat, and I'm here for you.  If you ever need to chat, feel free to PM.  I like what Billy had to say and think he and so many others here are great examples of how it can be done.  This is the drugs and w/d, it isn't who you really are.  Here's my take - I think the desire to feel better is your true self.  And I am 100% certain that if we've ever felt happy and healthy in our lives (even if it was a long time ago, and hard to remember clearly) then we will return to that.  Right now, we can't do anything to make ourselves feel better, so take that pressure off yourself.  All you have to do today is wait.  Just wait.  Wait one minute, or if you can, wait five minutes.  You are such a precious treasure to the world, and to all of us.  Just wait a few more minutes, and then wait some more.  This is what I'm going to do today.  We're going to make it through this, and our lives are going to be so very beautiful.

Thanks ComingHome, It is very kind of you to get back to me. My boyfriend is being spiteful but at least he is in the house and guarding my tablets. I am very scared of being in the house on my own and I will be tomorrow. Gx

Thanks, NolesAlum and Cantfly.  In actual fact, I was originally on 2mg of Lorazepam which equalled 20mg of Diazepam. So now I am on 7mg, that means I have cut by nearly two thirds.

I am pleased about this and yet I seem to have reached a very difficult point. I can't seem to dig myself out and am advised to rest and distract, believing that my body will get used to this level of diazepam soon.

Thank you again. Gxxx

Two thirds is even better!!!

You will catch me in no time at this rate... lol

Seriously though, I have hit a real hard spot too... It is a wait it out, distract and accept, thing...

Keep up the good work...!

Hey Gilly:

Sorry you are still feeling so badly. But 2/3rds is just great. I hear once you get below 10 mg, life can be hard. But once you are off, you will begin to feel better. It will take less time than you think. Anyway, that's what I thought about my journey off the K. Just know that I am thinking of you. :smitten: :smitten:

Cantfly, you made me smile when you said I would catch up with you! Yes, it is a wait and distract thing for now. Hope it goes soon. Hope yours does too.

Bets, you are a sweetheart.  Coming off K is an amazing achievement. Thank you, as always, for your support and encouragement.

I hope that you find the inner strength for this latest difficult time. You've been there before, and you'll encounter challenges in the future. Your track record shows you are strong and are making progress. Stay with it!  :)

Thanks, TooManyBennies. I see you are jumping into the forum! That's great news. You will soon make pals. I used to go on Off Topic and play the games on there. That was a great way to meet people, if you fancy giving it a try. I will watch for you round and about on here.....Gilly x

Yes, I mainly hang out on Off Topic. And I miss you there, Gilly. :smitten:

Hang in there Gilly. I've been stuck at 7.5 mg the last 6 weeks and am hurting. Just starting to climb out of the hole. I am halfway done. We will get there.
