I stumbled upon this forum after suffering from multiple parathesias over the past year and a half.  Basically--tingling, numbness, "electric shocks, hot and cold sensations and burning, primarily on my arms and face but also pervasive through my body.  I also experienced weird muscle pain, especially in my wrists and arms.  I have NOT used benzos but did engage in moderate to heavy drinking 2- 3 days/week.  through trial and error, I realized my symptoms reduce when I avoid alcohol, gluten and sugar.  My neurologist had "no idea" what was going on nor my doctor even when I asked directly about the possibility of it being some sort of alcohol withdrawal.  This forum has given me hope and encouragement that, eventually, I will feel relatively normal again.

Hi Sue, just came across your post ....its been 120 days ago.

I'm not an expert, but all I know Benzos bind on on Gaba - a receptors and alcohol on Gaba -b, so there might well be a connection and similarity in sxs (symptoms).

 

The Gaba system is very complicated , how are you feeling now ?
