Brain fog - Medazolam

[bl...]

Recommended Posts

Hi

I had to go under a gastroscopy with sedation three weeks ago, where I was given medazolam for sedation. I had no major issues, however, after 2 days, my concentration and cognitive capabilities declined substantially

. I have been finding it hard to come up with adequate words while trying to make up sentences during talking or writing, and sometimes I forget what I was trying to say or write.

My job involves R&D, and I need to read allot of scientific papers and solve technical issues. The lack of concentration and brain fog is making this task quite hard as I can't hold and analyze the information I read and can't gather everything I know efficiently while trying to solve a problem. now and I need to read something or think about things few times until I can partially understand it. I had experienced something like this years ago while taking antidepressants and became eveen worth when I was going through withdrawal from antidepressants.

What could this be. Can this be another Withdrawl, has anyone experienced this, I am feeling 10% better now, when this take a long time to go away

  • 4 weeks later...

Just an update. Things have slightly improved, I can read things better but I still have allot of problem with writing.

I have also noticed that, certain foods that I was ok with tend to aggravate the issue

I'm having more trouble with the nicotine but still both pretty rough. To the OP I had two heavy sedation dentist appointments awhile ago...lol Brain fog big time but it passed. No harm. B

What you describe, based strictly on my own experience, sounds like temporary, low-grade aphasia. I had it pretty severely for almost 2 years after my second stroke. I had to ask my husband questions such as, "What is the word for the long stick with straw at the end that you use to sweep the floor with?" because I couldn't remember "broom". I am a semi-professional writer, so understand how frustrating it can be in your profession. For me, I learned to stop trying to remember the word (I was always sure it started with a certain letter and it almost never did.) and instead just relaxed and counted breaths. If after a minute or two it did not come to me, I wrote ???? and continued on. Almost always it would pop back into my head a short time after I let it go and I could go back and replace my question marks. Sounds like you are already on the way out of this one though.

Good luck!
