I've registered an account to seek support re: withdrawal from Ativan. In the past, I took a regular dose of 1mg/day for a period of about 2-3 years, and tapered successfully. During a recent bout of anxiety, I decided to try it again, and took Ativan on a daily basis (0.5 mg/day) for about 6 weeks before stopping with no taper. I was assured by my GP and pharmacist that this would not produce withdrawal symptoms, but I did suffer an acute withdrawal period nonetheless. Currently, I am experiencing lingering symptoms of withdrawal that I wished to discuss further on this forum.

Hello, looseleaf  :) - welcome to BenzoBuddies, and congratulations on being benzo-free!

Even a few weeks of benzo use can cause acute withdrawal symptoms, as you already found out, but luckily the short term use may be in your favor, and the lingering symptoms may clear up soon as well. It's great that you're off now though, and you've come to the right place for support as you finish your recovery.

I'm so glad you decided to join the forum - you'll find plenty of information and support here.   Post-withdrawal Recovery Support

When you have a chance, we highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations.

Please take the time to Create a Signature. This will allow members to see where you are in the process, so that they can better support you.

Again, welcome!
