Hello Markbe12,

Welcome to Benzo Buddies! I'm appalled that your doctor gave you so many drugs when you told him you were sleeping fine!! Not only that, but to advise you to take more Xanax when you are clearly feeling withdrawal between doses simply sets you up for taking higher and higher doses. This is caused tolerance. I'm so glad you said "no more".

The symptoms you talk about are very common for withdrawal. Withdrawal effects can be strange and strong at times and this causes a lot of worry and obsession about how one feels. This is very common, I experienced this myself.

The good thing is that you are off benzos and with time, what you feel will ease up. You've had tests to exclude other health issues, that's good.  Now it's just a waiting game, time is the real healer in terms of benzo withdrawal.

I'm going to give you a link to the Ashton Manual. While it discusses tapering in detail, it also gives a lot of good information about the withdrawal process in general. It was written by Dr. Heather Ashton, an expert in the field.

I'll also give you a link to the Post Withdrawal Recovery Board where you can post and receive feedback from members.

We'll be happy to support you as you recover.  In my opinion, being benzo free and healed in amazing. Please feel free to ask questions, we're here to help.

I just came from my sons cricket match I am not afraid to go out and I am working aswell...

I dont understand why docters give these tablets to people I started to smoking again cause i was so scared i did not know whats happening to me but when i am 100% i will quit...

When i read some of the stories on benzo buddies ion withdrawal it is scary this stuff change me as a person I lost interest in my hobbies I thought I will be fearfull all the time and my wife dont know how I am feeling... I stopped drinking alcohol cause after a night drinking I felt realy sick...did not drink for more than a month...

I can feel every week its getting better i feel better for longer periods but then i feel weird again for i few days...is this normal for withdrawal?

I am from Cape town South Africa so excuse my my english vocablury this is my second language...and here by us when i talk to people about this they dont know what Iam talking about withdrawal so I am glad to have found benzo buddies..

They really are only meant to take for several weeks or less for a variety of reason. A dependency can develop in as little as two weeks, and sometimes even shorter, and they can be very difficult to get off past that point for many. What you are going through is normal. Symptoms can wax and wane and the healing process seems to be anything but linear. The fact that you are feeling better for longer periods of time is a great sign. I am glad you found us as well.  :smitten:
