What's with 4am??? + mornings

I don't have insomnia, quite the opposite, but no matter what, I'm awake at 4am every night. Last night I went to bed at 11pm, which is very early for me but I was very tired, as usual, and couldn't sit up and do anything so I just went to bed. I was of course up at 4am. I don't stay awake after 4am, I can usually go back to sleep if I'm not in pain, which I must admit is becoming an issue. I wake up with really bad back pain which feels like my kidneys. It gets worse two weeks before my period. This often wakes me up several times a night but that's erratic. Even when I'm not in pain I wake up at 4am. I really don't seem to have the mental sxs that a lot of people here with insomnia have. I'm usually too exhausted to think much by the time I get into bed.

Also I have very bad mornings. I wake up feeling like I have full blown flu or some kind of tropical disease. I never, ever feel 'rested'. I usually skip mornings and don't even think about moving until lunchtime, but if I have to do anything in the morning I have to get up at least three hours before because it takes me over an hour just to get dressed because moving my arms and legs is such an effort. It's not panic attacks, it's not mental, this is a physical thing. My brain is actually doing pretty well. My memory is improving all the time (I was almost senile on Benzos!), and I haven't had a panic attack in a good while, but it feels as if my brain and body are going their own separate ways. Physically I have about the same, if not less, quality of life as someone with a terminal illness. I know this because I've lost so many people to terminal illnesses. My husband says I'm like he was the day he came out of the hospital after major surgery.

Same here...

Since the end of my taper, I wake up every night between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM....never fails. I usually cant go back to sleep. I have to get up at 4:00 AM anyway to get ready to go to work. On the weekends I usually will lay there restless, toss and turn then get up around 6:00. I hope it all goes away someday soon.

Hello,

This was me when I was early off. I dreaded the early wakening and the physical symptoms that would ramp up.  There were weeks on end where morning didn't exists for me as well.  I was lucky to be dressed by afternoon when my lessons started.

One of the former admins here suggested just getting out of bed and greeting the day.  So, instead of staying in bed until lunch I did get up and move around. I think it was helpful for me.

This issue eased up at time went on. I do remember the first time I woke up very early and was able to sink back in bed and sleep for a while longer.  With more time, this problem went away completely.

Ah yes, I woke up for months around 4am soaked in sweat while on clonazapam, heart galloping.  Since I've been freed my sleep pattern has been gradually getting closer to normal.  While still on benzos a doctor had suggested it might be an adrenal cycle problem and had my adrenal hormone levels checked, the results were normal.  What sometimes helped was getting up, changing clothes, getting back in bed, putting on headphones and listening to a guided relaxation meditation.

Still waking around 4am myself, no matter what time I go to bed. It's annoying. I've tried the vit c / or some snack when it happens and it doesn't help much. Sometimes I can sleep a little more, but not often. Then I have random days where I can sleep for hours longer, it's weird.
