words of hope from the sunny side ....

Hi Everyone,

When you think you can't tolerate the pain of withdrawal anymore, know that your body really does have an amazing capacity to heal and that it is doing its best to regain equilibrium.  It takes time ... lots of time ...  but with patience and determination you will get there.  Never ever give up!

This Friday, I will be four years off Clonazepam!  My sig gives you some idea of the doctor induced hell that I encountered after neck surgery and how my misplaced trust led to physiological dependence.  No need to say more, right?  I am sure my story is not unlike yours.

The point is, though, that thankfully, I recovered.  You will as well.  I just want to remind you, especially if today is particularly gruelling, that it is worth every effort on your part and that one day you will no longer even think about withdrawal.

Take excellent care of yourself ... keep things healthy and simple ... accept the process of time and patience rather than quick fixes ... and know that you, too, will reach the sunny side.

Lizie

Thank you so much Lizie congratulations and well done. It's insane how long this takes for some of us. Every little bit of hope and encouragement needed and welcome.

Thank you sharing your story and spreading some hope!  We all could use it.  I noticed you were on opiates too.  Same story for me.  It feels pretty hopeless sometimes thinking that I'll have to go through two detoxes.  Also noticed that you got off of the opiates before the benzo.  Right now I'm struggling with which drug to get off of first; Suboxone or Valium.  In the end it probably doesn't matter just as long as you do it.
