Hi Buddies!

I abused 1-2 mgs of xanax a day for almost a year and a half in december i switched to klonopin about 3mgs a day. Im an expecting father that went to a 7 day detox on 1/22/17 with the support and ignorace of everyone I know. I wanted to taper but having a unsupporting doctor and being the only one that seems to understand this illness I was convinced (by the crisis center) phenobarb would build up in my system and would slowly dissipate, what a fool i was lol two days out of detox fatigue set in as well as high blood pressure and paranoia! I was put on a beta blocker and my paxil was upped from 20 to 40mgs I also have 50mg visteril for anxiety still feel like poo constantly most recently my muscles and skin is either on fire or has an icy burn mostly my arms feet and chest. Going to cut this short for now will post more later thanks everyone

Hi  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I am glad you found us today. Congrats on the new baby on the way. I, too, did a phenobarbitol detox. I did it from 8 mg of Ativan.  The acute period is when symptoms are their very worst. This phase typically lasts 4 to 6 weeks, with some noticeable improvement felt after. Then it is a gradual healing process past that. So, at this point is normal to feel "poo". Things will get better.

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.

Please feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards, we have a wonderful community of people here, who will give sound advice. Members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

Again Welcome!  :smitten:
