Five months off Clonazepam/Klonopin rapid taper and I've developed this agonising pain starting in my right jaw down my neck and into my collar bone and shoulder - the collar bone feels like its going to snap in two and I had to ask a stranger to help me get my coat on today! It's unbelievable. It's been like this for three days now and getting worse if anything - by spreading into the neck and jaw. The pain is intense!

PLEASE tell me know this is normal and that it'll go.

Thanks for any replies in advance.

A very decrepit Bo.

Could be a infection, go to a doctor to rule that out. If it's not it's just another fun symptom to add to the list . I have had pains in just about every part of my body from this, even in my penis. " shit is crazy"

What part of the jaw exactly ? By the joint? I have pains that are excruciating that must be what arthritis feels like but also muscle pain is accompanied with it for me . Usually .  Months 4-6 I had the most physical pains.

I found out earlier this week I had a abscess tooth in my mouth. I thought all the pain I was experiencing was just withdrawel . So it's not always from the benzos . Be safe

I'm fairly certain it's benzo. I had jaw pain throughout my actual taper. I also feel v restricted with some pains in my back and abdomen which come and go - or at least have been over the last month. I'm afraid if I go to a doctor they'll put me on pills.

They can't put you on anything , you can make the decision on what action to take regarding medications. I would get it checked out just to be safe, I had pain in the area I was having pain all through my withdrawel and it ended up being infected . You don't want it to get any worse , my pain got so intense I didn't sleep for three days and Hardley slept at all until last night. It could just be benzos but do you really wanna wait and see ?

I certainly understand that fear, but you are the only one who decides whether or not you take medication.  Medication is a recommendation, not a mandate.  I would still be checked out, if only to relieve your concerns.

If your doctor isn't much help you could try your dentist. Dentists are pretty knowledgeable on ways to manage lots mouth and jaw issues even if teeth are not the direct cause. They will also give your teeth a good checkup to make sure the pain isn't coming from something like a dental abscess, cavity or damaged tooth. Sometimes with a dental abscess the first sign is pain in the tooth and/or jaw. Dentists can also help with things like jaw supports and look for signs of wear on teeth that can indicate if Bruxism (tooth grinding) is a problem. Bruxism is often a symptom of Benzo WD.

I had extremely painful jaw pain. It went away for awhile and came back. It was scarey! sometimes the pain would go right through my neck.  It felt like someone stuck an ice pick through my throat. A person needs to do what they feel they need to do. If I responded to every symptom I had and are having still, I would have to sleep in  the doctors office lobby. Just from my experience, it sounds like a symptom of withdrawal.
