Close to the end of my taper.

I'm tapering at .5ml a night. Sx have lessened in the past few weeks  and I'm sleeping better.  I've been using trazadone for about a year now. At this rate my taper will be finished in about two months although if my sx don't get worse, I may speed thins up when I get below .20 Diazapam.

That's awesome. Careful if you speed it up :P

Can you comment on intensity of symptoms when you were in the 15mg range, to when you got lower? Were thing easier when you tapered towards the lower amounts or did each cut feel about the same?

At 15mg my symptoms were pretty bad, although not compared to many who post in this forum. The worst symptoms were chest tightness/pain, insomnia and heart palpitations. I also had weird head symptoms of floatiness and being a mind observing another persons (me/my)  body and actions.  That being said, I've  had few totally sleepless nights although many, many consecutive nights of only three and four hours of sleep.  Things got better when I started a daily liquid taper in July at about 4mg. Rather than having an onset of major sx three or flour days after a reduction and not improving until day 10 or so, my sx began to stabilize with one day being much like the next although some days were better and others worse. My sleep improved a little, chest sx were lighter and palpitation still bad, but less often. My energy levels also increased. I have had a good window for the past two weeks and I hope it's permanent. Occasionally I sleep seven hours, but it's more common to sleep 51/2 to 6.I have been worried that I would has pws but am now feeling optimistic, although I know there is more healing needed before I'm back to normal.

Thanks for the reply. I would assume many of the cuts feel the same whether it's from 16-15mg or 5-4.5mg, except being stable on a lower dose means that you should (??) feel better and be less symptomatic than when you had more of it in your system. Sounds like that's sort of the case for you. That's refreshing to hear, as I think it's possible to taper so slow that you're pretty much healed when you're off but that would mean you improve all the way down.

Yes, I believe that going slow will require the same healing time as would a fast taper, but it will be more comfortable. Also, I never had to hold, except a couple of times when I was traveling and that was for convenience. When sx's got bad and stayed bad I just reduced my rate of taper. It always got easier after a few days or a week. . I know that it doesn't work like that for many people. At this point For me it is still tough but I believe I will be ok eventually.

Thats amazing to hear. If we're only talking about two months, I wouldn't rush the rest of the taper, I'd see it out fully to ensure you're good when you're off and don't get slammed and risk reinstating. KEEP IN MIND if you're jumping from something like 0.05mg valium, you still have many multiples of that in you're system once you stop taking your daily doses, as it's long half life means it's been building up in your system for the past month. So when you "jump".... you'll still have valium in your system for like another month (albeit extremely minuscule amounts)
