Sense of smell

This month has been the worst. Severe insomnia, heart rate issues, breathing problems, urination issues, anxiety, depression.  Today I have yet another new symptom. Does anybody have heightened sense of smell and taste? Some smells are intolerable now. This is all so insane!!

Yes, all my senses were heightened, taste, smell, and hearing.  Not only that, but I smelled aromas that weren't there (oranges, soap, etc).  This is called hyperosmia, and it's a fairly common symptom in benzo withdrawal.

I get this symptom all the time. I enjoy smelling all the flowers in the springtime whenever I go for a run. One of the perks!

I've always been sensitive to smells but now it's ridiculous. I could smell the muscle cream our nanny put on at 6am, at 7pm, from the upstairs of my house within 5 minutes of her coming in the door.  I feel like an airport dog.

I smelled Cheetos for weeks.  There hasn't been a Cheeto in the house since my last child grew up.

Challis, haha, that's rich!  I do get phantom smells sometimes, too.  It's so wild!

Yes very much so! I told my husband I could smell a fart 💨 1 mile away. I lived in a town home next to a couple from India. Despite the firewall I could smell curry. If my daughter poops in her diaper I can smell it from another room. For some reason I notice bad smells more.
