Anyone seem to get worse months after acute?

The first few months were definitely hard, but now that I'm nearing month 4, I feel worse than I did in acute. New or worse symptoms etc. Anyone experience that and is this normal?

Thanks

Yes, after having a good 3rd and 4th month, the end of the 5th month was horrible for me. I fell into a wave and have been there for a while. I'm still in the wave, and it's worst than acute. From what I've read, it's pretty normal to have a wave during the 5th, 6th months, and most stat to feel better during the 7th month.

Thanks for your response. I think we've spoken before after reading your signature that you were a short term user. I still can't believe we have this much suffering after short term use.

I did a 14 month taper from lorazepam and now at 33 months benzo free, I am still severely sick and debilitated.  And during all this time, I never, ever had a window...it has and continues to be non-stop sickness, suffering so debilitating I have no quality of life.  I've read a lot of posts and the spectrum of x/s and length of healing/recovery is all over the place....some are blessed with mild x/s and fast recovery while others suffer for years....just recently, I read of a BB who is at 11 years and still suffering.  So, yes, it's not unheard of to get worse before you get better.....a neurologist even told me that.

Praying that things turn the tide for you soon and that you have nothing but Windows on the horizon .  Wishing you healing, recovery, comfort and peace.

Blessings,

Brunette  :smitten:

Yes, it's hard to believe. I see small improvements but I'm still suffering everyday. I'm hoping by month 7, I will be turning a corner and feeling much better. I hope you start feeling better soon. What symptoms are you having?

I hope you start feeling better soon as well. My symptoms sre mostly physical.

-headaches

-nausea

-body aches, stiff neck etc.

-digestive issues

-constant flu like malaise feeling

-this new burning in my lungs when I breathe in (which I'm being checked out for now)

-fatigue

I think that's most of the physical. I do have some brain fog and just recently more trouble sleeping. I can fall asleep easily when I'm tired, but a couple hours later wake up with anxiety, fall back asleep after awhile, rinse repeat until morning, waking up several times a night.

What about you?

I hit a bad wave of increased symptoms from 3 1/2 months til now at 4 1/2 ish months. I've had some windows but symptoms went from about 15 hours of sx a week to 75 and it's slowing been dropping over the past few weeks, down to about 30 now. The intensity for the most part has continued to lower but I still have had a few really rough days. I'm feeling better and better though as time goes on, so hang on!

I am at 16 months off, approaching 17 months. Here is what it has been like with me.

Cold Turkey to 3 months I was in acute hell. My symptoms were intense chemical anxiety, agoraphobia, fast resting heart rate, episodes of Tachycardia, extreme exhaustion, flu-like symptoms first couple weeks, chest pains, light and sound sensitivity, intense insomnia, morning adrenaline hell, depersonalization, derealization, sore neck/back/shoulder, feeling flush and dizzy, food sensitivity(no caffeine or sugars, etc) and more..

3 months - 5 months my symptoms slowly went away, was about 90%, minor issues here and there. I though I was one of the lucky ones, almost healed.

5 months - 9 months I was feeling great, back to my old self for the most part and hardly ever went on BB or thought about benzo withdrawal and this hell.

9 months to 12 months I was in a bad place. New symptoms showed up, having muscle spasms all over body, would get spasm in left chest and cause my heart to take off, fill my body with adrenaline and pure dread. Sometimes I would get a sudden feeling of dread and shake all over. Most of my acute symptoms were back. I Was in a bad place. I guess after thinking you were healed and it was actually just a 3 month window. I was back in this terror.

12 Months to 15 months I was back to feeling 90% heeled with some symptoms randomly showing up here and there, again thinking it was all behind me. I was wrong yet again...

15 months to Present I am in a terrible wave, hoping it is not as long as the last one which lasted every bit of 3 months. I randomly started to having muscle spasm/twitch in my left chest, as well as all over my body. When I get these it causes my heart to take off 140-180bpm(Tachycardia) and I fill with adrenaline fueled terror thinking I am going to drop dead from a heart attack. During acute and about a year after I had EKG's, both times they were fine. My blood work was done over summer during a wave and I Was all good. The heart palps, scary tachycardia and left sided chest spasm are my wrost symptoms and the last ones lingering around along with heartburn, GI issues, body twitching, random moments of feeling really off and scared, and the crushing fatigue. If these heart symptoms would go away I would consider myself healed. I never had heart issues before benzos, so im confident they along with spasm are just part of this crazy non-linear healing process.

Can anyone else relate to this? I am going, for peace of mind, next week to get a echocardiogram to view my heart and see if there are any issues. I am 31, so do not think there will be anything as I only get heart symptoms when at rest. The other night I was awoken for first time by my left chest muscle spasming, which caused my heart to take off, I jumped out of bed started pacing, finally got my heart rate down by using ice pack on head, once the adrenaline fear left I was shaking all over. Just wish this would stop.

I have the heart thing for months now. It does get better but never go away . I got 3 EKgs and one chest X-ray, normal . Will see cardiologist in 3 weeks to tally make sure. My family doctor said its anxiety and I'm sure it's wd but still want to check .
