Ringing in Ears - Still Going On - 12 Months After Last Dose of Xanax

I was on Xanax 1-2mg for 2.5 years.  I developed tolerance and started getting stiff muscles and joints.  I completed my taper over 5 months which ended May 2016 and had some ringing in my ears but not consistently, just on an off. 

 

Starting in December 2016 (12 months after my last dose of Xanax), the ringing in my ears went from periodically to now all the time.  It wakes me up at night.  It varies in volume and tone throughout the day.

 

I went to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor who said he could see nothing wrong with my ears and no hearing loss. 

 

Have any of you guys experienced this scenario?  Im worried this might not go away...

hi- I am 8 months out from my last xanax and my tinnitus is deafening.....does not seem to be improving...hope that it is not permanent!

When you say its deafening what does that mean.  You you hear it all the time or just in quiet rooms.  How do you sleep with the ringing.  Did the ringing start as soon as you were done with the taper, or months after.  I hope it gets better...

I mean it is really really loud and all the time...it started during my taper and has not lessened at all. I have learned (somewhat ) to try to ignore it but it is hard especially when I am in a totally  quiet room like the  the bedroom at night.

Tinnitus seems to be one of the last issues from benzo withdrawal to resolve.  Give it more time.
