3 lives effected 2 ruined...It takes my breath away some days

I never posted this and it's one of the reasons I'm so angry and sad at Dr.s and these drugs. My mother and brother both took Klonopin as well and unlike me there is no happy ending possible. Both realities became apparent to me after I discovered what was going on with these drugs.

My brother... Was abused since birth by his father (he is my older half brother), disowned by his mother and lived homeless a majority of his life as an alcoholic. He was able to get sober in his 40's but was still mentally ill in many ways. He sent me a rare email the last we talked and it said. " I think I finally found peace. A nice couple took me in and support me like parents. I also was put on a new drug called Klonopin and I feel much better" My heart sank! I didn't hear from him for a year or so. I googled his name and found his obituary. I found out the cause of death was that he lost his balance on the top step of a flight of stairs fell and broke his neck. It was shortly after he was prescribed Klonopin. I blame the drug. I mean I walk into walls and have horrible balance ever since I started this poison.

My mother... Turning 70 and on 6mg Klonopin for 15 years. She went from a productive healthy woman to a morbidly obese bed ridden shell. She refuses to believe its Klonopin and thinks she has some mystery disease. She has not left the house in over 3 years now and only for refills. She runs out early almost every month than goes crazy for a few days or calls and begs me for pills. Last time she had to goto the ER 3 times for withdrawal.

Me...breaking the cycle for good!

I'm so glad you're breaking the cycle. It's sad to watch others and KNOW that there is a problem, but they just don't listen. Klonopin made me very dizzy, too, and it carries on to this day, though not nearly as bad. It baffles me as to why doctors DON'T GET IT.

All the more impetus to keep going, but I'm so sorry about your brother and mother.

Thank you both. People just don't listen either when I warn them. My best friend from HS and I reunited after many years of not talking about 5 years ago. She was recently prescribed Klonopin..... Good god I thought will this s**t infiltrate every corner of my life. I have explained to her multiple times what I'm going through. She is a smart woman with a PHD. Did she not hear a Fing thing I said? did she not want to believe me or think it was in my head? I begged her don't take the pills, go get medical MJ or try Buspar first just don't do the Benzos, it's not worth it. She is pig headed and in the back of my mind I knew she was going to take them anyways. Her Dr. gave her .5mg 3X a day. She said it doesnt feel strong enough... I'm just beside myself. No one can fathom the devistation these drugs can cause.
