Anesthesia

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to post that I've successfully had both a colonoscopy and a hysteroscopy under Propofol.  I spoke with the anesthesiologist prior to surgery both times, and let them know I didn't want any Versed due to my recent benzo withdrawal.  They were very nice both times and assured me no benzos would be administered.  I had no real side effects from the Propofol.  The colonoscopy went great, no problems.  After the hysteroscopy I did need some Fentanyl for the cramping I had.  I didn't have any problems after receiving it either.  Just wanted to post in case anyone is worried about anesthesia.  I know I was.😩

Thank you for sharing! I may need surgery in the near future and I've been trying to look up people's experiences with Propofol. It seems like most people are fine but there are a few horror stories that scare me.

I've always wondered why they needed to also administer a benzo when they administered propofol, so I could wake up all loopy and not drive and interfere with benzo wd. Can I ask them to skip the benzo? How does that impact the procedure or my experience?
