How common is tinnitus during or after wd

Wondering how common of a symptom it is during wd and recovery?

Very common. I have it for at least the last year, through tolerance, tapering and post-jump.

In my case, it is there most days, but not every day and seems to vary in intensity by some illogical cycle-system. I haven't figured out if it is an active reflection of a buzzing, bristling nervous system, something connected with neck/jaw tension while sleeping, or something independent of all that and just 'occurring'. Sleep is connected to it, in that I either wake up with it or without it; If I wake with it, it is there to stay for the day.

It is mostly handleable except for rare days when it adopts a really penetrating, needling focus about once-a-week.

They say that it can be the last symptom to go and, for some, it never quite goes fully. So far, I can attest to that.

I don't have it but many people do. It's pretty common here and annoying. Look at it this way. It will only be temporary while my brother has suffered from it for 10 years. And he never took a benzo........He has a permanent condition. Ugh.

It's very common. It seems, I could be wrong, that more complaints come from Klonopin/Clonazepam users. That's my biggest complaint of all the symptoms. Right now it's through the roof. I get near the end of my taper only to have it get so bad that I end up dosing.

When they do tinnitus research they usually exclude people on benzos from the studies. It seems that benzos inhibit the brains plasticity and it's ability to habituate to the tinnitus. Like sound therapies, TDCS, Notched music therapy, others.

I've had tinnitus for about two years.  I've been off of Klonopin for a little over 16 months.  It is not quite as intense as it was last year, however.

Super common - i had it before benzo'z but then it got worse as i was withdrawing. i am almost done with taper and i still have it tho it seems a little better. i think for most people it does get better :)

I think it fades in intensity, fades completely or we "habituate" to it over a long passage of time.

For me at just over five months out, it is still present but less noticeable (unless I think about it, like now!) and less annoying or attention-grabbing - except on a rare day about once a week when it concentrates down to a very thin, penetrating, needley... weapon!

On those 'rare' days, my other symptoms seem elevated as well - though I'm not sure if this is interplay or coincidence.

I'm trying to see if I can notice a trend - but I can't get there yet.

Tinnitus is known to be exacerbated by stress/anxiety/fatigue.. certainly i have noticed this. hope this helps :)

P.S. yoga is supposed to be good for it?

I had it really bad in the beginning but it has stopped. There is hope. Just one day I woke up and noticed it was gone. Poof just like that. Then other things have now taken it's place.

I never had it luckily. I hope I don't get it because I have had my fill of problems. I didn't get it while crossing over from Klonopin to Librium though but I did become full of rage, which some may consider worse than tinnitus. My rage got me hospitalized. I also quit other depressants and opiates around the same time of this crossover. Some people just may not get it. I'm sorry for anyone who has to go through that.

I have had it for the las two years. Now during withdrawal it's worse. Ringing tone 24/7.

Used to it now it's not as bad as the other symptoms.

My previous pdoc asked me "Do you hear voices"?

My answer "Yeah I hear you through this tinnitus" 😏

Pretty common with tinnitus, hope it will pass for us all.

I have tinnitus pretty much 24/7

It started when my doctor tried to rapid taper me off of klonopin after a couple of months use, that was about a year ago.

Some days I can ignore it and others it is screaming at me, the intensity seems to vary depending where I am in my cut cycle.

I must say it is the one thing that scares me as I get close to my jump point, the thought of it screaming at me for ever and ruining the rest of my life puts me on edge.

Ear buds and the sound of crickets gives me some relief when it is loud.

If you hunt you will find a topic on here devoted to tinnitus.
