Welcoome to Benzo Buddies!  Withdrawing from benzos is unlike withdrawing from any other kind of drug. These are strong medications that make significant changes to the central nervous system and create a physical dependency. So, it is not only a commitment, but a sensible plan that will help you become benzo free. You've come to the right place for information and support, we'll help you through this process.

 

A slow taper will help to minimize withdrawal symptoms. Generally, a reduction of no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days is suggested. I'll give you a link to the General Taper Plans for additional information.

 

I'll also give you a link to the Ashton Manual. It is an excellent resource about these types of drugs and how to withdraw. It was written by Dr. Heather Ashton, an expert in the field. I would suggest you take some time and do a lot of reading before staring the withdrawal process.  Once that is accomplished, you'll find a plan that works best for you.
