Hello everyone! I'm from Russia,  Moscow. I've been addicted to benzodiazepines (phenozepam in Russia) since 2010.

Every day I take one tablet,  that is 1 mg. Want to stop the addiction.

Hello Tsjuder,

Welcome to Benzo Buddies! Congratulations on your decision to become benzo free, we'll be happy to inform, help and encourage you during this process.

Since you have been taking phenazepam for many years, it will be important to taper off slowly. This is a very strong benzo so lessening the impact to the central nervous system will make things easier. Generally a reduction of no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days is suggested. I'll give you a link to the General Taper Plans for additional information.

I'll also give you a link to the Ashton Manual. It is an excellent resource about these types of drugs and how to withdraw. It was written by Dr. Heather Ashton, an expert in the field. I would suggest you take some time and do a lot of reading before staring the withdrawal process.  Once that is accomplished, you'll find a plan that works best for you.

Being benzo free and healed is amazing and in my opinion, we'll worth the effort. Please do ask questions, we're here to help.

Hello,  pianogirl!  Thanks for the support. I've already carefully read the materials on the site,  but I didn't find any information on phenozepam,  that is,  as you correctly said above,  a desperately strong benzo. Yes,  I'm planning to quit very slowly,  because almost a year ago I tried to quit a cold turkey. I managed to stay clear for almost one month,  but my state became worse and worse,  so one day I just couldn't stay on my legs. That is why I started again.

My first question is: ok,  I'll reduce the dose very slowly,  but in almost every plan that is on the site,  you end with diasepam (or valium), if I understand correctly. Well,  you see,  that medication isn't sold in Russia,  and I don't have the possibility to obtain it. In,  Russia, benzo addiction is usually treated with antidepressants,  but I don't wont to go into another addiction. So,  what am I to do?  May I quit without diasepam,  simply slowly reducing the dose? Thank you very much.

Hello,

Yes, you can taper off directly from your current benzo. I would say most people don't cross over. Take your time. A longer taper is better for less suffering. Good luck.

Yes I agree. You can do a direct taper, many people do.  There are many ways you can do a slow taper. Some people use a jewels scale to help make small reductions. I don't know if you have access to Amazon, but the one commonly used is a Gemini unit.  There are also people who use a titration method. I'll give you a link to the Titration board for information on this plan.

Actually antidepressants don't "cure" benzo withdrawal.

Thanks all for the support! Phenazepam is the most strong and addictive benzo that was developed in the USSR in the 1970s. It's sill very popular in Russia because you can buy it even without a prescription in some chemists shops... I started taking it because in 2010 I managed to get a high payable job in a big state company. But the sutiation was that everyday I was in the state of big stress and drain (well, thats the morals that are in the company, sad to say it, in other words, you are nothing if nobody stays behind your back and protects you). So I started taking one tablet occasionally. Well, it helped me a lot. But then I took it more and more often because the situation didn't change. Then came the addiction. I didn't pay much attention to constant taking the drug because I was only 23 and I thought I could quit any time. The fact was I'd been totally wrong...

I know that benzodiazepines accumulate in body and they still have affect even after 3-5 days after abrubt quit. The most terrible thing I feeled when I tried to quit cold turkey was vertiginousness. It was so strong that I couln't stay, walk and even lay in a bad. I din't realize where am I, it was like a nightmare. It started after 15 days and the syptoms became worse to the end of month. Than I just couldn't bear it, so I took one tablet of phenazepam. After 4-6 hours I felt much better, the next day my state was rather well. I thought I woulnd't take anymore, but vertiginousness became stronger everyday. I had nothing to do than to take another pill, than another, than I started taking it constantly again.

Thanks for the links, for the support. I'll do my best cause I know I must quit, it simply ruins my life for years.
