How to accurately cut 10% of a .5 clonzepam pill

[Bl...]

Recommended Posts

You would need to weigh the pill on a jewelers scale.

For example, if the pill weighed .170 mg for a 10% cut .170 divided by 0.5 = 0.34

0.34 x 10% = .034

0.170 - 0.034 = 0.136

So, the desired weight of your pill for a 10% reduction would be 0.136

I find the easiest way to reduce small amounts of weight off the pill is to sand the flat side evenly with fine emery cloth.

The scale will weigh in GRAMS.

Not sure where you get the "...divided by .5" factor , but the calculation is not correct.

Simple calculation:

.170g X 90% = .153g

I was dividing the pill weight by the .5 dose. If this is incorrect I apologize. I thought that was the correct method

No problem, but...

The simplest calculation to determine the desired weight for a given percentage cut is:

Subtract the %age from 100%

100% - 10%=90%

Multiply X the weight

90% X .170g=.153g.

I bought a Gemini scale off Amazon. Works decent for the most part and it was priced well, around $20-25 if memory serves.

The scale is very sensitive to weights, so make sure it's on a flat hard surface. Sometimes you'll get conflicting readings, so try not to get too fickle about it. I would just take an average weight and made sure I tare the scale (zero out) before weighing the pill.

It beats using a pill cutter but IMO the liquid taper is a better more accurate method. I will be pushing the wife to go to this as she progresses in her taper. Right now the timing just isn't right and she's doing good with the cut & hold for now.

I just got a prescription for a newer size of Clonezapam (.125 mg). They are more expensive but for me, the cost is worth it.

The are called Rapid-tabs. Not all pharmacies carry them but my psychiatrist office found one for me.

Good Luck
