WD Worse after Flu

[an...]

Recommended Posts

I searched the forum and didn't find much about flu making symptoms worse after the flu is gone.

Anyone feel worse after having the flu? I am on day 12 of feeling crappy with the fever breaking around day 5. Today seems to be lots of negative thinking symptoms and anxiety that has returned, a general feeling of unwellness, headachy, no appetite, tired but can't sleep.

I'm 99.9% sure I contracted Influenza Type A. It really kicked my butt but was NOTHING compared to acute wd and I'm still so glad I didn't get the vaccine! PHEW!

What do you all think?

Hi. Yes. I had a flu recently and afterwards I regressed in my recovery. Kinda makes sense. I also get worse after any stressful situation or if I do too much. SO frustrating! !

Ang,

Read my recent posts.  I'm in the same boat, though I've been taken back to square one (minus a few symptoms like halluciantions and dripping sweat).

Flu is vile for anyone, let alone people in WD. A lot of people here say any kind of infection will worsen sxs. This mess seems to wrack our immune systems and open the door for all kinds of viral and bacterial attackers. I am kinda glad I'm stuck indoors in a bad lethargy this winter as it means I'm not hanging around with colds and flu so much lol.

I did have to accompany S/O to the doctor with his latest health drama and I did dread sitting in that place among inconsiderate people who don't believe in using a hanky and blasting everyone in the vicinity with bugs. Not a great place for someone as sick as me.

Flu certainly can flare sxs up, and a real flu can take a good month for even a well person to fully recover from. It's similar toT WD in the sense it has an 'acute' phase (fever, chills, body aches etc), then once those things go it leaves you feeling very weak, exhausted, stuffy, coughy etc for a couple of weeks after.

I do wonder what the actual process is in WD that weakens our immune systems and lowers our resistance to infection.

It's widely known that these horrible bugs hit people with any kind of pre-existing condition a lot harder. I didn't bother with the vaccination either because of my WD. I really don't think my weak, sick form could even handle a dead virus right now

Good point dapple apple. I'll expect this to last awhile. Everything you wrote is how I feel- exhausted, congested, coughy. I JUST started going back out in public and this is now the 2nd time I've been sick since Christmas day. I'm sure my immune system has to build itself back up since I've been inside almost every single day for a year except a few hours a week for school and groceries. Yes, I agree with people being so inconsiderate of their germs. I wouldn't have gotten this flu had a woman not sat next to me and sneezed all day 2 Sunday's ago at a workshop I attended. She should have stayed home. 3 people there got the flu. One man was tested and his results were influenza type A.

I do wonder too if flu attacks gaba a receptors because I feel pretty bad wd now.
