Leaving this site for awhile

I post mostly to vent as many of you already know.  I appreciate the support, but most of the stuff I read here scares the crap out of me.  I don't want to be in withdrawal forever.  A lot of my issues now seem to be mental.  I talk myself into crap or think I have stuff because I read about it.  I need to take a break and calm down and relax and see what happens.  I'll come back in a few months and hopefully my sleep will be much better then?

Thanks for the support, but I need a mental break from this.

there is nothing wrong to stop reading posting. everybody here wishes you full recovery.

yes some posts can be scary especially when you believe that this will be you forever.

but remember, everybody is different and everybody has his own story.

we all recover. good luck. I hope I will be fully healed when you come back in couple months.

I have a non-frightening post for you. Last night was the first night since my insomnia problems began that I slept straight through a full night without waking up. After waking up in the morning I rolled over and got another couple of hours of sleep. Sooner or later it will happen to all of us. For some reason the night before was very poor, but every other night this week was much more normal than it was dysfunctional. It does get better!

Thanks aloha for the encouragement.  I am driving my family crazy on zero hour nights.  I just want this to end but seems like I have a long road ahead of me.

i understand fully where you are coming from TheWay.. especially re the obsessing part which impedes our sleep further.. i think focusing on other more positive aspects of your life to take the insomnia off centre stage (however hard) is something you can try.. this is what i am trying to do.. i believe (as many have found here) that the insomnia does get better but yeah patience patience and more patience is the key.. i am hopeful for you and myself as well as others here with similar problems.. HI all,

For all of you (including me) suffering insomnia (due to benzo's or not) this source  might help:

https://thesleepschool.org/

Dr Guy Meadows talks about how much of insomnia can fear based, ie the more anxious we are about not sleeping the less we tend to sleep and advocates accepting your insomnia as a way to improve it. Essentially you have to learn to not give a dam because the more you worry/obsess about sleep the more you put it up on a pedestal and the more pressure you put on yourself to sleep (which means less sleep). Your struggle against insomnia just makes it worse so you have to give up the struggle. The method is by no means a magic pill and can take a while to work but certainly it's worth a try. This approach is also no different to what many people have said (who have recovered or doing better) which is that worry makes insomnia so much worse and that you need to accept the current situation as a way of moving forward and improving it.

Guy has also written a nice book on the subject "The Sleep Book" which is an easy/fast read :)

Hope this helps

luv and hugs from down under

Take a break and enjoy your life!!

Over reading on the internet can ruin your mental health as you are aware.  I thought I had everything under the sun and guess what??  I didn't!

I still do not sleep great but I average over 6 hours a night and I am cool with that.  Once I got off the internet and stopped worrying about every symptom I was able to move on mentally and give this issue less power over me.

Take a break find something you enjoy and go with that for a while.  This site will always be here.

Agree with OPS decision to leave this site for awhile.  It's a great refuge when times are tough, but long term?  I wonder.  There's a point where we have to wean off and get on with our lives.  Getting on with our lives, albeit with healthier scripts, is in itself a healing therapy.  We've all become so digital, so attached to these devices as a substitute for relationships.  This can't be good.  It ain't natural.
