setback 3 months in?

Recommended Posts

yesterday I got hit with a bad wave. It lasted half a day till the minute I fell to sleep. I felt exactly as bad as in my 2nd week, which was worst of my acute. 90% mental. felt like I am loosing complete control of my mind.  the day leading to it I noticed some more muscle tension and twitching which was gone for a while.

then the next 8 weeks or so, I was ok. not great but fully functional. work, life....was moving on, more challenging, but doable.

last night felt completely unexpected. not sure if there was any reason for it. I ate some gluten/white bread which I avoided for a long time. could such little things cause such a wave?

I also watched a stupid horror movie - bad mistake.

anybody here did experience such setbacks 3 months in after feeling good for a while, and feeling like each week is a step to full recovery?

I can't comment on three months yet, but I just hit 2 weeks and then this past week was/is awful!  I have seen other BBs tell similar stories, so I can only assume you and I are experiencing the lingering effects. I am trying to think of my nervous system as a construction sight.  Even your question helped me because I see you had a bad time at week 2.  If you don't get a better answer than mine, you may just want to read other's stories and I bet you will find your situation is to be expected.

My big setback occurred around 3 1/2 months. I felt like I was on the way out and got hit with 2 weeks of symptoms close to that of my first week or two. Not as intense but just as many hours. Now I'm approx 18 weeks and feel like I may have turned the corner. It was very hard on me and I felt it would never end, but things are looking up now and it was obviously some major healing happening. Hang in there!

Miss: yeah 2 was bad, but it resolved  and was managable so far.

Klungo: good to hear that you made some progress 18weeks out.

I'm way better today, just still dealing with the shock that yesterday left on me. I hoped that this part of the w/d was behind me for good, but well...I suppose not.

Sleep was 8h at least, so something to look for is the night.

good recovery all of you

I've been thinking lately, maybe we make this stuff worse unknowingly. Maybe take a minute to analyze your thoughts prior to this setback. Maybe something was bothering you that you just weren't consciously aware of. As humans, benzos or not, we are going to have good and bad days...maybe something was going on with you that you didn't think was a big deal but was actually affecting you. Just a thought.

Hang in there, locutus!  I have had similar setbacks, often if I am very stressed about something, but they tend to be short lived, thankfully.  I think as you yourself said, watching a horror movie probably not the best decision  :D  hope you feel better.

Damn, this is just like I did, ate some white gluten bread a little over a week ago, and baaam I'm back to the monster wave I had in the beginning of December. I have avoided sugar white bread and caffeine since way back. And everything went so fine and I felt like, yeahhh I can probably eat that now😐 It's sooo annoying  :(

Thoughts to u that it'll ease soon  :smitten:

If I had watched a horror movie and ate a hunk of bread, I'd be a hurting pup. I wouldn't discount this triggering symptoms.

My setbacks and challenges continue to be physical, not mental. Came at about 5 months. The uniform experience is that things can change in a minute, due to a hunk of bread or nothing at all. Either way, take good care of yourself. Three months out is still early in post recovery.

Hi. I had weird reactions to psycho movies, anything violent, or otherwise disturbing; overall had to avoid many types of movies.

Bread (and gluten) can be a jarring experience. I really tried not to do a restrictive diet; too unrealistic. There's two theories about food intolerance; Avoid, or do small amounts of the food type so that your body doesn't get a shock when you eat it. I'm convinced there is mega gaba involve in the stomach/digestion. And mega food issues involved with using/coming off of these medications. Karuna

Agree with avoiding things known to upset your nervous system, whether movies, certain people, chemical exposure etc etc. It seems as though it's too easy for them to prompt a setback.  3-1/2 months out from rapid detox and more of the sx are psychological for me. (Being on neurontin though might be blocking a lot of physical sx many experience, esp the HA and muscle tension in the neck and back).  You'll find what does and doesn't agree with you.  Take things day at a time - it really does help!
