As I taper lower will it help my metabolism improve?

Hi guys I know I sound like a broken record but I can't help but feel like a failure right now. The weight from two and a half years of benzo usage crept up on me and after tapering from 3 mg down to almost 1 mg I have lost weight but I feel like my metabolism is slowe and having had an eating disorder before starting benzos this weight gain is having a destrimental side effect on me mentally.

I feel so worthless and ugly and I just want to know of any tips and tricks people have done to lose weight while tapering and after, does your metabolism return to normal? I am only 24 and am not somebody who has ever been even remotely overweight my whole family is slim and this is just not me, I workou two hours a day and eat 1200 calories mostly protein, healthy fats and low carb. No alcohol, have been checked for diabetes, thyroid and pcos and everything comes back healthy. I am 155 lbs at 5' 8" and am usually 1250-130 and I just want my body back, klonopin has taken too many other important things if I could just lose this weight it would be a huge victory, please help

How's your sleep? Interrupted sleep can mess with you metabolism and make you gain weight.

I haven't lost any weight yet and I'm almost off Valium but at least I quit gaining. I was diagnosed with an underactive thyroid last summer so that complicates things. I gained a lot of weight in the past on antidepressants and it gradually came off once I stopped so hopefully the same will happen once I'm off benzos. I hope somebody who's lost weight post-benzos chimes in.

My family too are all relatively slim. Small. I never weight over 112 in my life. My issue though is clearly Remeron but I'm simply concerned now with finishing the Valium and worrying about the weight later. You're not ugly I'm sure but im also sure having anorexia you look even worse to yourself than others see you. I've never had an eating disorder and I'm not comfortable with my weight. But I'd be less comfortable without sleep. Kind of a temporary trade off. Cheer up. You're young and I'm sure very beautiful. Get off these drugs...and don't look back. This is temporary. B :smitten:

My metabolism seems faster after jumping, but I can't tell.  I have been eating a LOT of junk (I'm a stress eater).  I haven't lost weight, but I haven't gained any (which is odd, Eating as much as I have over the past two months would normally have put a ton of weight on.

That being said, I wouldn't worry about your weight during withdrawal.  Your body needs the full daily amount of calories in order to heal itself. In my opinion, I think attempting to lose weight (especially by dieting) would actually make healing take longer.

I know years ago when I was in the hospital after a botched surgery (gallbladder removal, doctor screwed up and sliced off a bile duct, leading to severe infection, pain, and another surgery.)  I was on IV nutrition and they had me at about 3500 calories a day.  I was mortified because I had worked really hard the past 6 months, eating less than half of that and working out, and I had lost 50 pounds.  I was told that due to the condition my body was in, I needed the increased daily calories and nutrition in order for my body to heal.  Considering we are trying to heal our nervous systems, I think this is more important now than ever!

I have been a personal trainer and in women's fitness for a long time. I even did some contests. klonopin could perhaps be affecting you, but it may not be the reason. If you had issues with anorexia before ( I read your post) That is more than likely going to cause a rebound effect, and your calorie intake and such are low. Your body thinks it is in starvation mode. I am saying this because I was leaner when I wasn't taking Xanax , but I am still lean , I have not gained really any weight, and I barely exercise anymore.  I would eat healthy and eat enough until you feel satiated. Allow your metabolism to reboot.  Focus on low glycemic carbs, lean proteins and veggies.  I would focus on lifting weights to rebuild your metabolism. Good luck. There's more to life than how much you weigh.
