Wave some time after being stable?

Although my symptoms appear to have finally stabilised and I am getting ready to cut further when through some stressful life events and a cold. I have been shocked by how little resilience I have to worry, caused by an event that logically should go away of its own, given time.  The urge for immediate relief, which would mean a humiliating 180 turnaround on an earlier decision, is so overwhelming that I am struggling to hold myself back from doing so.

 

Little things are worrying me too, though - even tiny errands like a mundane walk into town to pay in some money at the bank feels like a worry and a burden. It is like a return of the darkest days of severe w/d and feel I just cannot cope with life.

 

It was brought on by a combination of being extra fatigued from a cold and severe mental and emotional strain over a relationship that I have suddenly come to realise is doing no-one any good and just has to go. I have pretty much collapsed into a trough of total exhaustion. made even worse by the anxiety that I fear will stop me sleeping and put me further into a downward spiral.

 

is it normal for your resilience to be so denuded by the "scar tissue" of past suffering? I have had so much continuous stress.
