On 2 benzos, want to stop one asap

I am on Valium and Klonopin: 2mg of K and 5mg of V. I think my body is getting confused by being on two of them and since I have been on the Valium a shorter period than the Klonopin, I was thinking of rapidly withdrawing off it. I was supposed to taper from K to V but that didn't work so I just ended up getting hooked on both of them and now I am in this addiction mess. Overall I think Klonopin is much more effective for me and would rather keep that than the Valium.

My plan is to cut the V in half for a few weeks and if I feel horrible withdrawals to substitute it with more Klonopin until the Valium urges are gone. Then I will stop the Valium altogether and continue to substitute it with more Klonopin until the Valium withdrawal is over. Any thoughts on this? Anyone else on two benzos and have anything to share? I am not sure if taking more Klonopin can substitute for withdrawing off Valium since I know it's usually the other way around: people use Valium to get off Klonopin....

This sounds complicated. It may help to put your usage history into your signature so people can see your history. I found documenting my usage and taper in my profile signature helped motivate me to continue my taper because i could see where I'd been and the progress I'd made. Sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but it's good that you're here and making a decision to get off benzos!

Are you able to take either one without the other without withdrawal effects? 1mg k is roughly 10 mg Val, and they both have long half life and can be tapered slowly and comfortably (as possible). If you can take one of them, and not have withdrawal effects, I would cut the other one out immediately for good. Preferably, it would be better to come off the 5 mg Valium on a taper, but since you have taken a higher amount of k over a longer period of time, it's probably best that you try just stopping the Valium. Give it a week or 2 before making any conclusions about withdrawal after stopping, as it can take time for Valium to leave the system and the withdrawal process begins. If you have withdrawal effects immediately, reinstate at the same dose of valium. You can them taper them both simultaneously, nice and slowly. If all goes well, you can stop the Valium without any problems, and then slow taper the k. If not, and the stopping the Valium causes withdrawal, just start taking your normal dose, and then start reducing both at the same time. 5-10% reduction, wait til you stabilize on that dose(no less than 2 weeks, following same logic as stopping Valium, long half life means it stays in the system and stacks on itself, so plasma concentrations may not lower immediately). Rinse and repeat. Keep reaching out and asking questions
