What kind of alcohol?

  I see most people use vodka to make their liquid solution.  I only have gin, scotch and bourbon in the house.  They are also very old, like 25 yrs old as we don't drink  at all.  Could I use the gin and is it still safe or should I break down and get vodka.  I really didn't want hubby to know this as he might get upset at using alcolhol.  Thanks in advance.

Any alcoholic beverage, at least 80 proof, will work.  As long as they have been tightly sealed/capped, the age won't matter.

 

And you will never be taking enough alcohol for him to be concerned about.

  Thank you Builder.  I think I might just get some new vodka and use that.  I am too afraid the other stuff might not have been capped etc.  No sense worrying myself.  I am a worrier and will make it worse if I start the liquid microtaper with old gin.  Thanks again.
