Severe chest discomfort

[Da...]

Recommended Posts

I've been in so much pain today - my chest has been absolutely killing me today and nothing is relieving it. I took an Epsom salt bath and that helped for maybe 10-15 minutes but ibuprofen hasn't touched it and heating pad isn't helping.

Of course it's freaking me out because it's my chest. And I'm afraid I won't sleep because I'm in so much pain.

Anyone take magnesium for anxiety, insomnia or muscle relaxant?  Any other suggestions for the pain? Gabapentin isn't even touching it.

Magnesium can go either way for people. For some in withdrawal it is calming and for some it is stimulating. Pretty much the same story on that we all respond differently. I think  it is meant to help calm anxiety and relax muscles. You could give it a try and see how it affects you.

I don't know if the kind of pain you feel is the same as mine but for me it's the musslces that can't relax. I can't even talk normal because my chest Is all cramped up. Since I've started relaxation yoga (a week now) it seems to lighten up a bit. It hurts but the musslces get some relieve and learn to relax on their own again. It'll take a while I know but it might be worth a try!

Im pretty sure the gabapentin could be causing it

I thought gabapentin was prescribed for some people for pain.... didn't know it could cause it too. I'm pretty sure mine is withdrawal related since it's worse in a bad wave.

Its such a cruel irony that for so many of us, who already are freaked out enough with anxiety symptoms that center around the heart, that there ALWAYS seems to be pain or pressure or discomfort in the chest;and it ALWAYS seems to wrap right around the ole heart. ive had recurring chest pain on my left side lately and im like ugh...ive had ekg's, mri's, stress test, etc etc, yet theres always the lingering fear my heart is going to explode...

I think this is clearly klonopin withdrawal. Unlike tin gabapentin helps my muscle pain so it shows you we are all different. I'd blame the benzos first. It's a scary sxs though but chest muscles are large. B

During the worst parts of my taper when my heart was way out of control, I always thought, "fuck it, if my heart explodes then I won't have to deal with all of this shit anymore.."

Of course there was a lot of depression talking there, but that's how it was for me.

In the beginning, when my heart was on fire and I was in a lot of pain, I took nexium as needed for about two weeks and it really, really helped.  I did have an EKG one time and it was normal, so I rightly assumed all problems were due to benzo withdrawal.  After that, I just rode it out.

My heart got back to normal about 3 months off my jump, and I've been exercising hard for about 7 months with no real issues.

Hope this gets better for you soon!

Agree...Myalgi is a common side effect from these drugs. .

Or w/d sxs. I got tieze syndrome from Valium and that hurts reallly bad in the chest. I took some NSAID for the pain.

Thank you for sharing this..... when I read all the side effects for kolonopin on my sheet I was like "whoa" I have all of these and they are identical to withdrawal sxs... the pharmacist I spoke to recognizes and knows there is a withdrawal from benzos ( theres a surprise) and she said it can be hard to differentiate...chest pressure and shallow breathing was a big one..... I've heard of others on here complain about this too.....

The dr. In the er told me there are numerous horrible side effects from these drugs ....I never knew how bad...

Okay,

I didn't read this thread before.

But now, I had severe pain/ ache in my center chest this morning.  And I have had it in the last couple of weeks.  But this morning was the worst yet.  It passes after a while but is pretty scary.  Other than diarhea I have not had any physical withdrawal symptoms until now.  All mental.  The pain radiates from the center of my chest.  Of course, once it starts, I get freaked out, and it radiates up,to my jaw. Doesn't feel like its anything cardaic related.  My pulse rate doesn't really change.  This really sucks.

I am making a appointment to get a cardiac workup.  If this happens again, in the interim, I will go to the ER.
