quit Cold turkey off Ambien 3 weeks, got refill now it isn't working

How do I taper off this medication I was abusing it for six months taking five a day. I got my last refill today took some, I got a euphoric high for 20 minutes but never fell asleep and then its like it just left.I cant figure out how to taper off this if someone day.

Ambien is very difficult to taper due to the short half-life. You've already done a cold-turkey, what happened? If your only side effect is insomnia, then just cold-turkey again--there isn't anything you can do to ease the insomnia except give it time. Your body is telling you--I've had enough of this! It's trying to keep you alive.

 

If you are having other side effects that are debilitating, you will need to do a cross-over to a longer acting benzo such as Valium, and taper that.

 

Either way, you need to come clean with your doctor, or some other doctor, so you won't keep getting refills, and so that you have someone monitoring your condition. Someone who knows what you have been doing and what you are doing. You can't keep going on like this, it is very dangerous.
