Drinking/Working out at 2 years off?

Is there anyone who wasn't able to drink or workout at 2 years but was able to at 3 years? I've been really stagnant in healing and these are two things that haven't improved for me (at all) in my 27 months post-taper. I'm just wondering if they will get better or if me using Trazodone might be affecting my healing as well.. seems like most people can drink or workout by now. So if it's not just benzo WD, I want to figure out what it is. :(  Getting married in May and have a big year ahead of me.

I have been off 14 months and I tried drinking for the first time over the holidays. I'm not much of a drinker personally and I kept it in moderation, I had like two glasses of wine with dinner one night and some champagne on new year. About a week after that I had like two draft beers when I went out with friends. None of it really made any difference. It made me a little dizzy but in a good way. I still had the same shitty symptoms the next day that I have everyday. It was nothing new. I believe moderation is the key I knew if I got drunk the hangover would be terrible. I think we are all different and that moderation is the key to doing anything during this time.

Congrats on your marriage!! That is awesome news. I hope you get more relief soon.

Thank you, @Davis1!

I am jealous of your moderate drinking. I can't even drink half a glass of wine without having a horrendous hangover for 4 or 5 days and a definite uptick in symptoms (sore muscles, tinnitus, anxiety, shakiness, etc.) It's nuts.  ???  That's why I'm beginning to wonder if there are other factors at play here.

I'm in the same boat! I'm also 27 months off. Exercise doesn't seem to have a negative effect. Up until 6 months ago it was touch and go with exercise. Now I think it helps me! OK, now my favorite beverage....WINE. Apparently I am not ready for that now. I pay for it within a day after having it. I also have moments of shakes, chills and flu like symptoms. I'm going to wait until I am 3 years out before testing these waters again. I got remarried last summer. My neighbor brought over Tequila shots the night before. I only had one shot. The wedding went without any problems but I wasn't feeling how I wanted.

Yes @camre I have come to the conclusion that I'm not going to be able to partake in drinking by May.. unless I want to deal with feeling awful for the rest of the trip lol. We are getting married in Italy so I don't want to ruin it! Oh the irony.. to be in Italy yet not be able to enjoy a glass of vino.  ;) ;)

Sounds familiar. Originally my wife and I wanted to take the Wine Train in Napa Valley in September. We are now going to do this next August or September! Hey, it's a good thing that Spaghetti doesn't affect our withdrawing! Congratulations on your upcoming wedding in Italy!

I'm 14 months off and just got back from Kauai for 10 days and drank 4 to 6 drinks per day every day with 0 negative effects. 4 months ago I wouldn't have been able to do that without issues so healing does happen. I think moderation is the key early on for sure.

i would say I was 95 to 100 percent healed by 12 months. Some lingering things but it's hard to say if it's benzo WD or just ever day life. I went to Kauai exactly a year ago and I remember having 2 drinks the first day and felt off for at least a week or more. Nothing crazy but enough to make me not want to drink for a while after. I was glad that I was able to drink ever day just recently on my return trip to Kauai with 0 issues. Shows me that true healing does happen. Now that I'm back from vacation I haven't drank and don't plan to more than once or twice a week moderately. I truly believe moderation is the key and start VERY SLOW and listen to your body and don't push it.

That is awesome, @BenzoDuck!! Glad you are healed!! I truly wonder if tapering slowly makes a huge difference in recovery time. I was an idiot (actually just completely unaware) and did a rapid taper over two or three weeks max. I have a theory that doing so in such a quick manner kind of sends your receptors/brain/body into shock much harder and thus takes much longer to fully heal. Coulda woulda shoulda, I suppose. :P So glad you were able to kick back and have an awesome vacation!!
