Clonodine

I'm reading multiple perspectives on this medication and not sure what path to take. I've been on .1mg 3x as needed for about 3 months. I take it as needed but that is often lately due to my racing heart and chest pain. It helps those but is it worth it? I hear some become physically dependent some don't. The Ashton manual says it does not help the withdrawal process but I'm actually taking it for a troublesome side effect of withdrawal so I'm not thinking in the least it will make things "easier" for me or an easy way out as I've heard. I just hate that feeling I'm having a heart attack,  up if it's hard to come off of I'll suffer through it.

I take .1 mg 2 times per day for blood pressure. For a while I was concerned about dependency on it as well. What I have come to realize is that it is a very safe drug and helps tremendously with my anxiety and BP spikes during tapering. I realized that when I stabilize I really don't require clonodine. While cutting, Some days I have taken more than 2 and my doc says it is fine. when I am done with my taper and my BP stabilizes for good I will taper off clonodine as well. It can cause rebound hypertension if stopped suddenly. Other than that I think it is a remendous asset with some of the more potent and dangerous symptoms- particularly blood pressure spikes. I am curious about what others think as I honestly see very little written about it.

Thanks for weighing in Noles. I have a similar view on it. Temporary and only as needed until the taper is done than wean off that last. I have a similar way of taking it too. Some days I take more, when I level out I take none. I'm fortunate to have lower than average blood pressure, 110/70, so if it spikes it is not any huge amount for me. It has been taking the edge off the racing heart which scares me as I have a higher than average BPM already 80 range resting.

I actually do take it daily at .1 in AM and .1 in PM

I've often wondered about its effects and while I'm still not 100% certain, I know it helps when I am cutting. I have some side effects when I'm not cutting and other "symptoms" like occasional anxiety. The problem sometimes is that I cannot figure out if it's W/D or a side effect of clonodine. The only way to know how dependent I am on it is to taper off of it which I will not do until I am done tapering clonazepam. I also know there is a moderate interaction between the two so I'll monitor it as I go down in taper. I'm on relatively small does of each but very sensitive to meds apparently.
