27 months out. Having Back Pain! Anybody else?

OK. Just when I thought I was getting better, I'm not feeling the best. I've always had lower back issues since I was 20. I've started having mid back pain that comes and goes. Sometimes it is so bad it becomes unbearable. It also triggered a panic feeling today. I took some magnesium and for some reason it made me feel weak and panicky. I'm calming down now but still have an achy tightness in my back. I would appreciate some feedback. I'm going on a trip in a couple of days. I wonder if I'm having anxiety issues due to the upcoming trip.

Thank you

Cliff

If you have had back pain since your twenty's I would get it checked out if you haven't already. There's a good possibility that you may have something going on there that is not related to WD.

I have the same background as you and ended up having my spine fused 2.5 years ago. I'm doing much better now.

My back pain has been lower back. This has been more of a muscle tightness in my mid to upper back area. My lower back isn't really hurting me. I'm doing better today but still feel a pins and needles feeling going through that region of my back. It just has a different feeling that what I have experienced. I've been to the chiropractor. He has had me do some exercises which at first seemed to help as far as my lower back is concerned. I have a contraption I have had for several years that I have been using. It's called a Spine Worx. I call it the rack! I've used it over the past couple of weeks. Wonder if I am aggravating instead of helping. Many of my symptoms that have plagued me over the past year have disappeared but this popped up in it's place. I've read of people having back pain throughout their withdrawal. I didn't but now all of a sudden I do. Just trying to get some feedback from those who have or are having this issue.

That sounds like your psoas muscles to me C. Your psoas muscles run on both sides from you lower spine over your hips and down front over your abdomen to link with your upper thigh. They also sometimes cause abdominal ache/pain which can be taken for intestinal symptoms.

The yoga people say it 'stores' the fight-or-flight response in the body and drip-feeds that to the nervous system.

Definitely worth a google to further your own research on it.

Thank you! I looked this up and found a yoga website with some exercises that my chiropractor gave me. I haven't done them all. I'll have to work on this more. Thanks again!

I've definitely had back pain and I'm 27 months like you. It is hard to tell what is from Benzo WD, what is from my Endometriosis/hormonal issues, and what is from me breaking my sacrum 12 years ago. I have horrible posture as well. And my back pain CERTAINLY gets worse when stressed. If you think about it, you are tensing your muscles when you have anxiety/are stressed so this would likely include your back muscles or other muscles that affect your back muscles.

Totally normal to have back pain in WD, I would think. Hope you feel better!

Hang in there. I have had back issue also. I have done months worth of research. Believe it or not the back muscles can become so tight that they can actually cause bulged disc. I have had this happen in my upper and lower back. I have had this since August. I am starting to get some better. I have done physical therapy and acupuncture, lots of stretching and peppermint essential oil. Anything to loosen the muscles. The benzos were muscle relaxants and now they are in spasm having to retrace there steps and learn to be normal again. Have talked to several chiropractors and physiotherapists. I finally had an answer.

The most important to your post, "I took some magnesium and for some reason it made me feel weak and panicky".  Stay away from the supplements, most everyone is very hypersensitive during this journey to take any of it, as it upticks wds bad.  The muscles are hit hard with some during this process.  Of course you could have some anticipatory anxiety about an upcoming trip, everyone goes through this, and that's ok... this is normal.  Things will settle down, just forget the supplements.

I have found everyone's imputed very helpful. I do believe it is related to issues with withdrawal. I do feel tension in my back. It seems to hit me when I feel stressed. Do I still have anxiety at 27 month? Most of the time No! Again when feeling stressed I  seem to stir up symptoms. Anticipation of this trip seems to have done just that. I am enjoying this and has in the long run been relaxing. The back tension seems to be improving as well.
