Does anyone else feel not safe anywhere they go? Paranoid like people want to hurt them or are out to get them? Last night I "felt" like someone was gonna kill me or like there was someone in the room going to kill me if I fell asleep...please help me.  I'm 6.5 months out on a cold t and I'm a wreck

Hi,

The way you feel is very common in withdrawal, especially after a cold turkey.  Some of us internalize it and develop severe health anxiety in reactions to our symptoms.  Some externalize, and like you, don't feel safe anywhere.  Many have intrusive thoughts or fantasies. But, this is temporary, and as your nervous system returns to normal this symptom will fade away.

Yeah, Ive had paranoia and read of others who had it more severe like what your describing many times. Especially, CT folks. I'm sure its awful but they've all for the most part improved.

Yes, I have the same symptoms, they are disturbing. I just keep telling myself this is pass. Or at least I hope. Accept the thoughts and don't fight them, quickly realize they are from withdrawals, then get your mind busy on something else. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

I'm in constant fear but it's not about people. It's mostly about dying and a disease process in my body. Even if I rationalize that nothing is wrong and I'm afraid of nothing then there's still just this unconfortable feeling of adrenaline churning away as if I'm on a drip of epinephrine.

Oh yes the fear and anxiety is real. When I was in acute I had a panic attack in my bedroom and was convinced some sort of evil spirit was in there. I didn't sleep in there for three days before I realized that I was in xanax withdrawal. I was having really irrational thoughts back then and I continue to sometimes have very anxious and irrational thoughts, mostly about health anxiety, and it is pretty extreme. I had a tiny mole removed a few days ago, and I'm freaking out thinking I'm going to die . It's pretty cray!

I have the paranoid anxiety. The second I stick one eye out my door I feel like everyone is staring at me, laughing at me & making fun of me. I'm constantly afraid people are going to hurt me but I also have PTSD from a past boyfriend who, when we broke up, actually did turn everyone we knew against me. I had grown men walking up to me & punching me or purposely ramming their bodies into me. One guy chased me down the street yelling at me that I owed him money. Another guy tried to break my finger after I tried to get him to leave me alone by flipping him off.

But now I'm scared of everyone, everywhere. I had a meltdown in Walmart 2 days ago. But, I've always been over-paranoid about people watching me, etc, maybe because I've been picked on & made fun of since 3rd grade. I've always had low self esteem.
