Tapering plan for Flurazepam? Help!

Hi. I've been on 30 mg of Flurazepam since 2 years. It's not working anymore and I want to stop taking it. Can anyone provide me with a tapering schedule for this medication as I want to go slowly and avoid side effects. Thank you so much!

Hi guys,

DISREGUARD...-it was sposed to be its own poast/thread/topic... whateva... -which i have done...

I cant drink milk, so just wondering if 2mg Valium (diazapam) is better disolved in say 20ml of alcohol (and would pure alcohol be ok, as i have some handy). Then add the 20ml to either 80 or 180ml of water?

Or is it just some of the other benzos that need the alcohol, and a pure water suspension would do just fine?

-or have i missed the point, and the alcohol is for stronger compounding???

I have read the stickies and had a poke around...

But if there are any links anyone wants to throw at me... pls feel free...

Thanks so much...

T.

Ps.. -I am looking at coming down from 1.4V at a rate of about 0.2V every 14 days, but i could pill split for a bit if i need to... -ie 1/4 of a 5V and 1/2 a 2V...???

Holding for a while at 1.5V now, so no rush to work out specific dose details yet...

Thanks again...

As long as the alcohol is 80 proof or higher it will work.  Use 2ml alcohol for each 1mg V so 2mg would need at least 4ml alcohol.  Then, after it is dissolved in the alcohol, dilute with 194ml water (you need a lot of water to keep the V dissolved).  Plain water will not dissolve the V.  You need to first use alcohol.  PG is another option if you don't want to use alcohol.

Generally speaking your taper rate is reasonable...maybe a bit fast, but not overly.  But taper by how you feel, not by a schedule.
