Having a hard time making accurate cuts

[cr...]

Recommended Posts

Tapered down to .97mg ativan. Got a random surge of fear shooting through me. Lost alot of muscle strength within a few minutes. Terrible headache. Basically I went into interdose withdrawal really fast for some reason. Been stable at this dose for 5 or so days now no problem. Is it possible I measured my dose wrong and went too low?

My Gemini 20 scale I use for dry cutting is getting more and more innacurate. It'll read up to .10mg off at times. I get a different reading every time I weigh these tiny crumbs... ugh such a pain. Should I look into getting scripts for a compounding pharmacy?

Also if a pill enters your mouth is it guaranteed to be absorbed perfectly? Or does it only work if it's under your tongue or swallowed? Or only swallowed? I tried taking it under my tongue just now. Didn't really notice anything. Barely touched the wd.

I hear where Your coming from ! It took Me a while to get use to it and yes it takes a while to get it right. I learned how to use mine via members of this forum . Just a few tips - make sure it is stable and once You turn it on let it sit for a few minutes and I always press the tare tab . From there I measure three different .05mg clonazepam tablets and find they average out around 168g.

From there I gently place My pill or whats left of it on the scale and let it sit until it stops fluctuating , I then pick it up and relay it down on different spots on the scale . I use the number that comes up the most. Also I find it easier to place the cut tablet on the side I cut eg lets say I cut a whole pill in half . I would lay it down on the flat side its just choice but I find a get a better reading.

Did this two years ago and its tough when You get down to the tiny amounts , that when You need to call in the pros like SG57 who helped Me both last time around and during this current episode " hope its the last time on a benzo " !

I just take it on an empty stomach or add a little milk to the water and choose not to take it with food. I find it absorbs better. Im no expert but hope I helped out a little.

Under the tongue...

This is my understanding, and i hope others will correct me and add...

When a substance is absorbed into the blood stream under the tongue, it is free to travel in its raw form throught the body, brain liver kidneys etc... (this is y drinking alcohol through a straw gets one drunk quicker, -increased surface contact in mouth, and it doesnt get so filtered by the liver)

Some meds are destroyed by stomach acid, thus entric coated to protect them till they are absorbed in the small intestine. I think most meds are absorbed in the small intestine, but not sure...

Im not sure (help) but if a benzo needs to be converted in the liver, like many meds, to their theraputic form, you may be losing much of the dose to the kidneys and or body tissue...

Medications designed to work under the tongue  like wafers, naloxone and is it ondazitron?? Or arnica etc... can start to take effect within a few minutes...

That aside, i know i have moments of unusual sx with no rhyme nor reason... -or could be a new type of tea, etc, (hey Sun)...

I am very careful with dosing and diarise if need be, but still i make the odd mistake, and it can throw me out big time... then one needs to decide to correct a possible underdose or missed dose, or wait it out... there was a thread on here around new years about it, some decided to take the dose that was possibly missing, some thought wait n see... but i think everyone would have agreed its up to the individual and their particular situation...

Hope u feel better asap, let us know...

Yeah my scale is clearly off. As slow as I'm going it shouldn't be this drastic a change. I haven't been in withdrawal this bad for months. Feels like I got hit by a truck.

Here's a trick; keep the 10g calibration weight on as you weigh your dose. I plop mine on top of the weight. At half load, the scale is much more accurate. Also, try not to do powder. Cut a piece off that's bigger, and shave it down to the right weight. It will be much better that way. Powder can get stuck in teeth, gums, etc. It is much less precise.

I think you need to make sure the scale is working properly. Does the 10 gram weight register 10 grams? Are the batteries old or dying? You could put in new batteries and weigh the same pill before and after to compare. With a properly calibrated scale you should not have to give it up for a compounding pharmacy dose. I bought a new scale half way through my taper as it was acting wonky.

Rx drugs that are meant to be swallowed will have different excipients in them to help them survive the acidic gut. Orally disintegrating won't have the inhibitory excipients, and will get into blood stream quicker. This is why .125 mg K is more crumbly, and not typically used for dry cutting. While you could dissolve a regular pill in your mouth, it may not have the same effect as swallowing.

That's all correct.  However, there is a sublingual formulation for Ativan.  Don't know if he has the conventional tablets, or for some reason has been Rx'd the sublingual.

I always took sublingual Ativan although I preferred to dissolve it on my tongue rather than under it to avoid a "rush". But if they are sublingual maybe try liquid. They are very tiny pills. Very tiny so the weight would be difficult and they really aren't supposed to be crushed. But if that's what your doing clearly dissolve under you tongue or on top if that's more comfortable. Better yet I'd try liquid. B

  • 2 weeks later...
I'm only down on one of my doses to a quarter pill of Ativan.....  .125 of .5 mg pill....i can barely pick it up out of my pill box....sometimes it sticks under my fingernails and other times it goes in my mouth and can't tell what happens after that...I can tell I am going to have to use a different approach.
