Rapid heart beat, adrenalin rush, panic

After a hellish week, I had a great 9 hours window today which gave me so much hope. I even fell asleep normally, but 30 minutes later I awoke in a sweat with my body burning and tingling. Then my heart starts pounding and speeds up. I am filled with extreme anxiety and want to jump out of my skin. Sometime I pace to dissipate the energy. My chest feels heavy and I feel nauseated. This has been going on for the last two hours. Anyone else get this? It started last week and I was hospitalized. Heart testing was normal. This symptom is debilitating. Anyone use a beta blocker for this?

I had this, it slowly went less severe... I had a huge 3 week wave with insomnia and anxiety attacks, then I slowly felt better and better, my sleep improved and everything's fine, and then it came back just what u described. But then I new it was w/d and my brain healing and I just took it in, observed, accepted and took breathing techniques. After a while it got even less severe. U must try not to freak out whenever u get a new symptom or a symptom is coming back, it just creates more adrenaline in u. Now I rarely notice them when they come, I just feel a bit of faster heart beat and then I ignore it. I know it's difficult but u must try and take it in observe and accept, they will not kill you. I promise u that :smitten:

Thanks. I agree with you and I am working on acceptance. I already have bad health anxiety which is what got me on klonopin in the first place.  All these wild symptoms really amplify my health anxiety, especially when a new one comes.  But it is worse if you worry about it or try to fight it. I am finally learning this. It just is always reassuring to hear others experiences.

I developed health anxiety during my year of tolerance, because my body came out with all these weird symptoms all the time...google google is not a good doctor :) I have now come to terms with that whatever weird is happening the next seven month is simply w/d, I won't google anything more.

It's an awful condition I know, but we will overcome it I'm sure, but I think we can help our brains and healing proses by staying calm and not ad more fire to the adrenaline that's racing through our bodies.

hugs from Norway 🇳🇴

Hi David.  In answer to your specific question yes I am taking a beta blocker.  It was prescribed for both my BP spikes and elevated heart rate and anxiety.  I have to say that it does help somewhat.  It doesn't take those things away entirely but the adrenalin blocking effect is noticeable.
