Hi,

I have tapered slowly down to zero valium, but have taken far too many rescue doses.

The burning, numbness and tingling and even pain is making my days really hard.

Would it be sensibal to try and stabilize on 5 mg. and go slowly down to zero without taking extra rescue doses on top of that.

Could i then do a faster taper since i have already been on zero several times.

I need to find some kind of new starting point and go from there.

Any advice would be highly appreciated.

How long should i stay on 5 mg for then to restart the taper.

All this physical stuff is taking it's toll, and somehow i feel i must try to find a new platform to taper from.

Best wishes

Mike

Honestly, you'll probably find that reinstatement won't work. And then you'll have to have another long taper, while experiencing even worse symptoms. If at all possible... Try to wait it out. You're assuming reinstatement will work.... Well... It didn't for me, and I undid almost a year's worth of tapering, and am worse off. Don't do that to yourself. Best of luck :)

Just wondering how fast u tapered the last few mg each time...

If it were say 2v in two weeks, or anything close to that, i would say thats the problem...

From my understanding of what i have read, extra slow and very sx guided, the lower u get...

If holding on at 0v isnt working, i personally would try to trickle the tiniest ammount in to your system, and i mean tiny... -like 0.1V or 0.2V....

But it really depends on you, and your taper speed/history/sx, etc...

If u seriously rushed the last of your taper too much each time, perhaps reinstating and starting again is the best option, but i wouldnt do it lightly...

From experience, if you've made it off and aren't having seizures then don't reinstate. The hardest part is getting to where you are. Time is your medicine now. Eat clean and distract.

Hey Mike

I agree. You're off and I'm not. I do wish I was you. Just try your best not to take those rescue doses and you'll eventually heal. It was a tough ride for you and you made it! Now if it were me I would not go back to 5 mg.❤️❤️

No you will regret it for two reasons. One you will be back taking benzos and two it will not be what you are expecting to happen when you go back on and you will be disapointed oh and three you will have to come back off of it.

Mike,

Do you have your taper schedule somewhere?

I am in need of some help, and am taking periodic rescue doses.

I am at 6.0 mg V.  See thread below: titled: Miserable night

Thanks, Al

Thats basically what I am after.  Mike got to zero, but us newer members to the board only see his most recent update in his signature.

How fast did you taper Mike!

Tx.

Thank you for all your replies. I have tried to update my profile to make it as accurate as possible.

I think i have taken too many doses the last couple of days, but have had zero days in between.

There is a serious medical condition in our family now so i need to function somehow the next couple of months.

So your highest dose was 1V, which stopped on 13/7/16..

U held out for 2 weeks then went back to 2V and stopped again..

Then u have been taking the odd??  2V? As a rescue or one off dose???

Just a wild guess, but perhaps look at the other meds after stopping the valium... my best guess is the V covering a gabapentin w/d, but i have been on all your meds at times and the escitalopram was not friendly at all... it created extreme mental sx that i never had, for the 6mths i was on it..  and the mirtazapine very sedating... for me, gabapentin combined with valium is extremly sedating(300mg), where it never was before i took valium (up to 2400mg)..  but this is just me, and we are all different...

I guess ur advice for the valium stays the same, this far... -do your best to drop the valium..

At ur stated doses, -i wouldnt think u too far off being free of V...

Best wishes with your family situation and your journey...

Love,  I thought you had at least reached 75 percent stability with holding your dose for a couple months?

In hindsight, I know you probably wished you had just held to stabilize instead of having to do this all over again....but I'm just looking for a little hope  :-\ anything

Miriedl, I am deeply sorry for your troubles and may we all come to a resolution soon.....
