Does anyone go to their doctor for any of this? Do your doctors believe you? One of the hard parts of this is the lack of support. The lack of medications. I have recently been to neurology and in the hospital and all the doctors just think I have anxiety and want to give antidepressants or they of course. No one understands this. I am also desperate for medication to help symptoms but too afraid to take anything. Also, I worry I will become disabled. To collect Disability, I will need a doctor to explain what is wrong with me. How does that happen when no one believes you or understands?

My doc refuse to admit that these symptoms are still related to w/d and continues to say I'm stressed and the stress has coursed the anxiety attacks. It is kinda ok, she gives me sickleave from work, and it's easier to get it with an anxiety diagnose than a w/d symptom. So now I can focus on my school, without stressing for work at the same time.

My psychiatrist believes me 100 % and he actually say it's so common for doc's to deny the facts according these pills. To prescribe these benzodiazepines makes it so much an easy fix for them he said. It's sooo  :idiot:

Davi0495, what u r describing is exactly twhat I have been going through.  I did a 14 month taper and now at 33 months sbenzo free I continue tp get sicker n sicker.  I have seen numerous doctors n had extensive medical testing which did not reveal anything significant yet i am debilitatingly sick n vontinue to worsen while doctor after doctor wants to say oh it's just anxiety n throw psychotropic medication at me.  I keep telling them it's not anxiety... I have severe physical x/s n nobody will believe.......my x/s are so severe that I have limited mobility n even when I'm lying down I feel horribly sick....its like a slow lingering death every second of every day.  I have never had one window n have pretty much lost hope of ever recovering.  A few weeks ago, I had a disability hearing n I was so sick that I cried all during my hearing.  You are no ot alone in the things doctors r saying to you.  I hope u find relief soon.  Wishing you lots of windows. Bessings, brunette  :smitten:

I have had the same.  My dr put on a medical certificate "cannot cope"...haja great medical diagnosis ... not.  I couldn't apply with something like that which didn't even list one crippling symptom.  Within 2 months I was blessed to find a parttime job that I could do (afternoon start), but it won't save the financial setback.  I really think she just went out of her way to protect the prescribing doctor and perhaps even the pharma company from liability.

I actually suspect the same, because when I mentioned Ashton and that I've been on the internet and found a Danish help line that actually acknowledged benzo w/d and the time it takes to heal, her eyes was in complete denial. I'm not blaming her that she has prescribed these meds, but I think she might do know the facts and don't wanna face it and also the protection of the pharma companies that makes her job so easy. Spot on Kristina

Try to find a doc who specializes in addictions, and addictive meds.

While many addictions specialists don't know or want to know about med dependency, some psychiatrists will know about this condition and might sign such a document for you.

I was fortunate to find a psychiatrist who was treating a large number of people for addiction and recovery.  He was well versed in benzo withdrawal.  He described a taper plan for me based on the Ashton manual and prescribed the meds I needed to taper.  I was lucky to have found him.

Most doctors I met with elsewhere denied benzo addiction or the need for a medicated taper.  When I told one pysch doc that I believed I was addicted to clonazepam he told me, "no, no, you are not addicted you have merely become dependent."  A VA doc told me there was no such thing as benzo w/d and in the next breath told me the VA no longer prescribes benzos.  Big pharma created a monster and the medical profession is doing their best to cover it up.

It took me over a year to find someone to help me taper off klonopin.  Most doctors/psychiatrists didn't think it was a problem or they knew how bad it was but, couldn't/wouldn't help.  The Nurse Practitioner who finally helped me knew all about benzo dependence, withdrawals and how to safely taper off them.  People who can help are out there but, not easy to find.

My dr told me most people never get off of benzos, the way he delt with tolerance is to prescribe higher doses.

I no longer go to any dr at this time and take no other meds.

This is just my opinion, I don't think there are any medications that can fix our brains from the damage done by benzos. We either heal in time or we don't, that is my conclusion from what I have researched.

I never dreamed that things could still be this bad this far out.

I still have hope for all of us, it may just take a while.
