Taking Valium and Ativan Which to taper first?

I was told taking 2 different benzos is not a good idea.  I'm taking 5 mg of Valium .....but 4.5 mg of Ativan .  I started to taper the Ativan.  I was given Valium to keep me asleep as I was waking up in the middle of the night in a panic.

I was on tow benzos. Kpin and Valium. I was on a whopping 10 mg of K so I did a partial CO to 70 mg of Valium. Drugs like Xanax, Ativan and klonopin are real ass kickers for sleep, but I don't find this to be the case with Valium. Ativan can be a beast to come off. Do you think you should add more Valium and less Ativan? That's what I would do anyway. Then I would taper the harder of the two benzos, and IMO that would be the Ativan. I would crossover to Valium over a period of months.  Then taper the valium.

I can't get a doctor to do that .....and 40 mgs of Valium would be over the limit.....I don't like  The 5 mg I'm taking

Taper the shorter-acting, shorter half-life Ativan first.

You might not need 40mg.  I tapered 1.5 mg Ativan to 4 mg valium.  But I did it slowly.

That's what I said and builder never steers anyone wrong. I think the Ativan has to go.....first.

hi Betsy I've seen some of your posts, and have wanted to contact you as I'm having problems finding people who were on high doses of klonopin like me. In December 2015 I was up to 6-7 klonopin , had like a brain meltdown, went to 3-4 overnight, then in October went to 2.5 klonopin and 20 Mgs Valium.. I had the intention of doing a full cross over but after researching (a lot!), people have talked me out of doing a crossover for some reason, and then was planning a milk titration of the k. However, the klonopin has given me heart issues, I can't walk or stand without my heart going high, has made me completely agoraphobic, etc etc. however when I take the Valium in the evenings I can walk around, my heart is much lower, not as anxious, I can stand longer. With the Valium and klonopin I'm currently on I'm at 70 Mgs Valium equivalent, however I only get 50 Mgs Valium daily.  I don't feel the klonopin at all anymore so assuming tolerant.This klonopin is killing me, I don't know if I can cut anymore without adding more Valium. Any suggestions? Thank you so much.nicole

I agree Taper Ativan as low as you can (also go slow) You may be able to replace some of the Ativan once you are way lower with V. I'm tapering direct of Xanax.I'm doing ok. Just go slow.
