Emotionally numb

[be...]

Recommended Posts

After being off benzos and high doses of phenibut for a  1 month and 8 days now I still feel totally emotionally numb, its like a switch with all my emotions turned off. I dont feel sadness, anger, joy, anxiety, or anything. Did anyone else suffer from this after quitting, and does this pass with time?

I also used high doses of benzos and phenibut (also baclofen and pregabalin at extreme doses)

I also had severe anhedonia. It is normal after you altered your internal brain chemicals with high doses of external chemicals. It gets better as time goes by.

How long did it take before the anhedonia started to go ease up or go away, and did you take any supplements to ease the anhedonia?

Around 6 months off most of the anhedonia went away and could feel emotions again. Around months 8 I was able to laugh again and enjoy the things I used to do.

Alright cool, thanks. It makes me feel better knowing a time frame, How high of doses were you using of phenibut and were you using it daily?

I used phenibut every other day. At the end of my use I dosed approximately 25 gram and 10 hours after that I redosed 6 or 7 grams more. Some days I switched the phenibut with baclofen (300 - 400mg) On my phenibut off days I used benzos (12 - 20mg of Xanax) or approximately 10 grams pregabalin powder (imported from Chinese labs)

I'm emotionally numb and I'm off Xanax for a year and three months now.

I can feel sad, bad, and anxious, but I can't feel joy, pleasure, shame, guilt. Well. Just recently I've begun to feel a teeny bit more anger and guilt, but it is very slight and fleeting. Mainly I feel disconnected, isolated, and not alive.

Even the emotions I do feel don't feel like my own, what I used to have. I'm sad all the time, for no reason.

Wow Napdmd thats a huge amount of phenibut and and other drugs congratulations on getting off that stuff and getting threw  withdrawal, that must've been hell. The severe anhedonia is annoying and Nony i know what you mean about the emotional numbess, im going through that right now also, but not the disconnected part. But I think with time the emotional numbness will pass, you are starting to feel a little anger which I think is a good sign your emotions are coming back slowly. I might look into a nootropic called nsi-189 for the emotional numbness if it dosnt go away after a few months to a year.

I'm currently going trough a break up from my 1st long term relationship of 4 years. I've been able to feel genuinely sad two times in these 5 months after the break up, and thus haven't been able to process it at all..

Can you still feel other emotions or were you only able to feel the emotion of sadness twice in the past two months?  A break up alone can cause emotional numbness/ anhedonia but the good thing is it always usually heals with time. One day the emotions will turn on again. The annoying part is waiting for the brain to do its thing.

I was  also diagnosed with a number of MH disorders while on benzos and have no idea if I really have those things. It's horribly confusing.

If the emotional numbness has been there awhile and if the emotional numbness/anhedonia was there not due to benzos or drug use I recommend you look into nsi-189. Just read some articles about it, and see what you think, it's one of the extremely few things I know of that helped people recover from emotional numbness/severe persistent anhedonia. But if the anhedonia is there due to getting off benzos it can take up to a few years at most to go away or ease up. If time doesn't work look into nsi-189.

Nony your emotional numbness will definitely go away, what are all your other symptoms? because earlier what you were talking about sounded like anhedonia, and  derealization which is annoying as fuck but will pass as time goes on. Stay away from gabaergics, a lot of it has to do with down regulation or desensitization of gaba and other receptors . Mainly gaba though from the benzo use. Were you diagnosed with any mental disorder before ever using benzos?

Thanks. Yea the first 2 months was the most hellish expierence I ever had in my life. The psychosis, anxiety and the other mental and physical symptoms were so severe, that I thought my life was over.

I must admit that I still have some days where I still suffer from anhedonia, but it is a lot less frequent and severe as it used to be.

Psychosis for 2 months that sounds horrible plus anxiety and other mental stuff on top of that, I had psychosis once for a day after to much phenibut and pills and thought that was hell. 2 months of that shit would make me want to probably die. Did you quit  phenibut cold turkey or did you taper, and do you still have any other lasting symptoms other than the anhedonia.

Offeverything27 I started taking nsi-189 2 days ago for the first time and I'm already noticing extremely slight emotion which I haven't felt in 1 month and 12 days. I highly recommend you try nsi-189. It's been 3 years, thats to long. Do you ever get windows of emotion at all?

Nope. Its been non stop deadness. I feel like it could go away tho because everything is improving so much.. Its just wearing on my soul, or lack there of i guess. Its nice to know i'm not alone but its terrible too. No one should have to experience this

I created an Emotionally NUMB group in the Group section if you people are looking for more support in that area. There hasnt been much activity lately but i think it's because it got backed up to page 2

Yeah the emotional numbness does suck. Definetly when you can't even get sad if someone close to you gets hurt or just dies. I hope you recover soon. Its going to be amazing when we can actually feel happiness/joy again.

Yea it was the evil thing I ever felt in my life. I did a lot of psychedelics back in the days and nothing came close to benzo withdrawal delirium. Ayahuasca was scary as well, but it made me feel incredible for months after the trip was over. This is not the case with this benzo withdrawal. This withdrawal ordeal only showed me how dark and depressing life can be. I quit everything cold turkey and will never touch these drugs again. I still have some physical symptoms as well like muscle spasms, internal vibration and visual snow.

Offeverything. Thanks. Yea I had some success with noporn/nofap and intermittent fasting. Some days I feel pretty good and I'm able to laugh and cry. Some days I have zero emotion besides anger and doubt. I think this numbness is the last mental symptom and will go away with time. I hope you will get your emotions back soon man. You have been dealing with this shit for too long and I have only been dealing with this for 10 months and even I become frustrated with the slow progress. So I can understand your anger. I can only tell you that I had like 10 amazing days the past month. If the physical symptoms were gone on those days I would have felt 100% healed. I don't think your numbness is permanent. It will go away.

Thanks.. Yeah i understand the doubt and anger thing. I have had breakthrough moments where i feel deep sadness for others and what they're going through and i'm able to relate with them in that moment.. So i guess my emotions are slowly resolving but yeah.. Its slow. Xanax withdrawal is the scariest most humbling experience of my life
