Complete Meltdown Approaching

I explained in much more detail on the other BB what was going on with me but I think the level of detail was too much.  I'll try and summarize to the best of my ability.  I was doing well earlier this month reducing my Klonopin using liquid titration and getting as much as 16 hours of sleep per day.  My mom, grandma and stepdad somehow became more ill than me in various ways with Friday the 13th being the first truly disasterous day where I had to assume the role as the primary caretaker.  Basically, all week I've been calling 911 and taking people in and out of emergency rooms all while in the middle of my withdrawal.  I switched from liquid titration to just cutting and taking regular pills to simplify things since I am at 2.75 mg of Klonopin anyhow.  My hand was damaged very badly after being assaulted by my stepfather while trying to convince him that he needed to go to the hospital.

I am in a lot of pain and I have been slow to recover.  The other day, I was in such bad shape that I took .5 mg of Xanax (first time taking this drug surprisingly considering my massive list of medications taken previously) and that was the only thing that put me to sleep.  Now after a week of pushing myself to the limits to help my family, they are doing much better than me and I am by far the least healthy.  My insomnia is back in the worst way.  I'm in chronic pain from my wrist being hurt.  I only managed a half hour nap all day.  Now I'm wide awake and not sure what to do with myself.  I don't know what could have caused a massive drop in the amount of sleep I was getting.  16 hours to half an hour of sleep?  Is this stress from family?  Is this the .25 mg of Klonopin dropped catching up with me?  I know I promised myself to never go back into an inpatient psychiatric facility again.  But I have no idea what to do to get myself stabilized again.  Help?

Wow so sorry to hear about all these issues! It sounds really stressful. I wonder if it's stress, pain and Xanax that caused the sleep issue? Although I can't imagine you having much sleep debt after sleeping 16 hours. I hope it clears for you soon.

That's a lot of stuff to deal with right now, for anybody. I've been dealing with constant pain also recently, and it did a number on my sleep. I'm finally getting a handle on it. It's really hard to get the sleep you need when you are battling pain, and sleep is already very tenuous.

I'm sure you realize that sleeping 16 hours is not healthy either--what other meds are you on right now, anything else? Are you on any pain meds? The xanax dose may very well have given you rebound insomnia, not sure how many days ago that was. Try not to get too panicky, I have a feeling that things will settle down soon.

I would consider holding and perhaps a slight updose if you are not doing better soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your turn for the worse, especially after having enjoyed much improvement. Unfortunately, bad things don't wait until we are fully ready to deal with them. From my personal experience I learned that recovery from withdrawal is very fragile. It doesn't seem to take too much added stress or pain to set us back. It may take a little while, but you should stabilize again in the not too distant future. Although new circumstances might once again set you back, as you heal the setbacks will become less severe and shorter lasting. Good luck to you.

Hey bud sorry about all the life stress.

I think learning how to cope with all these things is imperative to maintaining a healthy mind state.

I'm sure worrying about everyone in your family and then wiring about your own issues hasn't helped.  Just try your best to stay positive I know you can do it!

Hey everyone.  Thank you for your replies and concern.  I'm still having trouble sleeping but I am sure that the cause of it right now is because my grandmother is having surgery this afternoon and that is on my mind more than anything.  I will give more details about what is going on later on tonight.  Thank you all again.

LifeInChaos.  Being a caregiver is the most draining thing, and to so many people!!!  I hope your Grandmother does well in surgery.  It is said ad nauseam, but try and take care of yourself.  "You yourself as much as anyone in the entire Universe, deserve your love and affection." Buddha
