Another silly BB myth!

 

1)  You need to understand that the medical definition of "acute" is short duration.  Acute does, NOT mean severe, intense, etc.

 

2)  The only real definition oif "acute period" is just the time frame following your last dose.  Most folks have few, if any sxs after their last dose.

 

3)  I jumped at .5mg V, and had zero residual sxs.  Quit worrying about something that probably won't happen.

from my understanding acute meant brief but intense. I've read so many people hit "acute" even months after they're off. People that don't have acute are very lucky. Worrying is part of this illness or whatever you want to call it. If the 5000 people in the two main Facebook groups I'm in are talking about acute after there has to be validity in it. I know they are a small fraction of people going through this, but reading every single person has it by all these people makes one wonder.

Acute withdrawal isn't a myth, neither is it a given, nor is it the"worst part of the journey". I think you get it or you don't, and there's no way to know, as our physiological makeups and tapering methods off different drugs are so different. For me, it was no less intense than regular withdrawal, maybe less, but more variable over the course of three months. In hindsight, it's not something to fear. I just used all the same coping skills that had already been put in place.

 

Doing whatever you can to lower the fear factor, like mindfulness meditation may help you move through whatever stress and symptoms comes your way.

  Nope.  "Acute" does NOT mean intense. That is an incorrect and scary connotation that people apply to it.  It is a time measure, not a degree of severity.  And here on BB, the term refers to the time period immediately following your last dose.  Many folks are completely asymptomatic during their "acute period".

I realize it's not chronic.
