Switch from Xanax to Valium

I took my last dose of Xanax yesterday  after a month of a C/O to Valium. I am now on 15 mg of Valium which I take on 4 doses per day. My question is how long does it take to stop feeling the w/d sxs of the Xanax?  I plan to hold at my current Valium dose for a couple or weeks until I feel stable as I think I'm still feeling the effects of the Xanax WD.  Anyone have a similar experience?  Is it better to hold for little while before starting the Valium taper?  I'm hoping I will stabilize at the 15 mg soon.

I have no personal experience but from what I've read, take your time to stabilize. But if you don't see any improvements, or even get a bit worse, there actually is some stability in reducing your dose. Because then, nothing is continuing to build up in your body, and your body noticed a steady decline and can start healing. So a constant reduction is predictable to the body, which it likes.

Hopefully that made sense. I'd maybe try holding 2-max 4 weeks, or maybe even do a very very very small cut right now. Either of the two should work. Good luck

Thanks Grapejuice for your feedback. I too feel I was very sensitive to Xanax. I tried a coupple of times to directly taper from Xanax and failed. I wasn't until I added the Valium that I was finally able to get off that particular poison. I know that all benzos are poison but for me Xanax is the worst. I resisted a c/o to Valium for a long time as I was worried about depression. I must say it is more sedating but I try not to confuse sedation with depression. I find that breaking up the 15 mg into 4 doses with the largest dose at bedtime helps me to function during the day as the sedative effect of 2.5 mg is much less than 5 mg dose for me. I just hope that I can make it through this taper with too much impact on my life. I feel Ike my life has been on hold for almost a year now when the panic attacks and anxiety hit last Feb and then I added insult to injury by taking Xanax. I need to get back to work and start to feel productive and useful while tapering. I'm praying this will be possible.  I will hold for at least a week since I need 2 mg tabs (only have 5 mg tabs now) to begin my taper and I don't see my pdoc until 1/26 to get the right size tabs for cut and hold method. Pretty hard to cut a 5 mg tab into 1 mg portions!  :)
