hi there! i'm a newcomer here, though i have used the read-only site as a resource for months. you guys have saved my life more than once, and i'd like to get the deeper experience, including helping others through sharing. my stats: i've been on clonazepam for 9 years, first for gad, then ptsd and more ptsd. i spent 7 years at between .5 and 4 mg, then a drop from 3 to 2 in year 8. though emotionally ok, my physical pain symptoms first appeared and i went through the standard terrified round of medical tests and false diagnoses, my doctors and i ignorant of the possibility that it could be the dosage drop. i started tapering at the beginning of year 9 after learning from a new psych about cognitive deterioration, and the mouth of hell opened up. i'm now 6 months into the taper and holding at .125 mg, soon to reach zero. my life has completed shifted as i slowly lost the ability to work, support myself, hold down housing, and maintain most of my relationships, so i am currently working on my perspective, and trying to figure out how to live this life in a way that still feels worth the effort. i also just moved back to the states for those reasons, so am looking for advice on benzo-wise medical interactions. i would love to learn anything i can from the community and give back, if only through sharing my own experience. you guys are the best xxxx

Welcome to BenzoBuddies, zaravolis.

Glad you've decided to join for more support at the end of your taper.  And also nice to hear that you've been helped by reading as you've gone through your Clonazepam taper.

When you have a chance, I highly recommend that you take a look at The Ashton Manual, which is an authoritative source on what to expect during withdrawal and recovery, authored by Dr. C. Heather Ashton, who is an expert in the field. It provides a great deal of information that can be very reassuring during any stage of this process, including a list of common symptoms with helpful explanations on the reasons for their existence.
